Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very good quality lens/filter. I didn't notice anything to complain about the built. The body is made of metal (aluminum I believe), and it seems to be very solid. These close-up filters are amazing options for macro shots with low costs. It allows you use the maximum zoom (telephoto angle) focusing on a few distance from the object.
Cons: You don't have a lot of flexibility when using these filters. The focus distance must be almost the same for every shot, unless you change the focal length of your camera (using the built-in ZOOM feature). There's a minimum loss of quality image when using these filters, but nothing to really complain about.
Other: I'm already going to buy another ones... Try it!

Pros: The filter comes in standard twist apart filter cases keeping it protected from scratching. Combined with the A570 filter adaptor (which also fits the 590) offered at DX it fits perfectly on my A590IS without any kind of interference with the camera's lense.
I'm losing at most a 1/3rd of a stop on the exposure.
There doesn't seem to be any abjuration, pin cushioning or barrel distortion.
Cons: Filter doesn't seem to be multi coated however the camera is so close to the subject that there isn't much chance for weird reflections.
Other: Performs as expected for much cheap than I can buy locally.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: *Cheap
*Great for trying out macrophotography
*Easy to carry around
Cons: *some chromatic aberration
*limited barrel distortion. If you're using it on a cheap telephoto, it's definitely noticeable, but nothing unexpected
*limited focus range, I'd say <1cm depending on aperture
*might have trouble using it with other filters because the glass protrudes a small amount outside the metal ring.
Other: Get it, it's cheap, can get some pretty cool shots with it.

Pros: I was in doubt when I ordered if this will fit my Nikon D40's package 18-55 Non VR lens . . and when I received this item, it fits perfectly into the groove of the lens. The camera doesn't seem to auto-focus when this filter is fixed. But I guess the manual focus is also quite ok when you are looking at macro photography. Lens is good though I really don't know if I am getting a 8X zoom to the object..I might say, I get around a maximum of 4.
Cons: There are no major cons to this product considering the amount which we pay for this lens. I received the article in around 2 weeks time, which is common for DealExtreme.
Other: Nice lens to try with, buy it and you will not regret. Its not for a professional, who is doing his day job with his camera. This is just for a happy amateur photographer, to try ways into macro photography

Pros: Build quality is very good, thread is solid and the ring feels heavy. Glass is well housed and has no visible defects and optical quality of filter is good enough. It's extremely quick to deploy if you ever happen to find something small and interesting.
Cons: you have to be very careful while handling this filter - lens are thicker than the ring and you may easily scratch them with a cap. Better unscrew it first. Requires at least rock-steady hands, and better tripod.
Other: This is insanely cheap alternative of getting 'all the pro' macro equipment. It won't ever replace it except for quick use, or just getting to know the whereabouts of the macro-photography. Buy this, not the 10x version which has overall inferior optical quality and higher degree of distortions.

Pros: At this price it's a real steal!
Useful both for serious and experimental/funny photography.
Cons: Apart from the expected aberrations that start around 20-25% around the center of the picture, nothing really.
Well, maybe some practical thing: one gets so close to the subject that hardly any light hits the center; you can get away with it using higher ISO's, A ring flash is almost a necessity (DX: hint, hint!)
Other: GET IT!
Every photographer should carry this in the pocket for the fun of the results, not only those that like to do some experimenting with close-ups at times.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Well-packaged. Easy to fit onto Nikon lens (Nikon D5100, using 52 mm thread) or onto existing filter. Shallow depth of focus. Makes it possible to get within 4 cm of motive.
Cons: Obviously only for close-up jobs. No landscapes here! Seems to require extra care when metering the light.
Other: Considering the price, it is a good buy for the occasional user - not the pro.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: WOrks great! WAAAAY cheaper than purchasing a Macro lense.
Cons: No cons.
Other: Makes a great gift for the beginner photobug!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Proven and Macro with standard portrait lens.
Cons: Almost nothing: it's a very good product for that price. Maybe the case could be better, as it is a simple plastic box with a soft sponge and nothing more. The upper part of the lens is not protected.
Other: Great buy. very useful lens. ts a very good product for the price. Simple and very useful device. I really like it and it exceeds my expectations.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Did not have great expectations for this lens, it was cheap and I thought it will bi a gimmick, but I was surprised. For this kind of money you get a great macro effect, sure it is not the best, but with extensions and this filter on a lens you get some really nice macro shots.
Cons: There are not really cons, but this is not a filter for a semi or proffesional photographers.
Other: If you like taking macro pictures, but do not want to spend a lot of money, give this filter a try.
