  • Looks great for a cheap price!

Pros: This punch tool is really cheaply priced!
Build quality is pretty good, especially for this price.
All important parts are made of metal, so they'll probably last a long time.
If you only need to punch a few cables, just buy this cheap one instead of spending almost $100 on a professional.

Cons: Would not expect the device to be durable enough to do professional installations of 100's or 1000's of cables. But hey, the price is great for home use!

Other: If you'd need this type of punch down tool only occasionally, just buy this one instead of a $100 professional type!

Pros: It does exactly what it supposed to, but costs much less. A friend of mine is working in a telecom company and own such a tool that costs much more, and I can't tell the difference!

Cons: None really. If you need such a tool, buy this one.

Other: If you need it, for one job or for professional use, buy it, it's great. The build quality is very good and it works very well.

Pros: It's very cheap but works as professional tool. I was using it professionally as a backup tool for some time and it did the job!
Punches like krone tool, sometimes results are even better!

Cons: Build quality is good for home user, but it wouldn't last long if you punch hundreeds of cables on the daily basis.
It is impossible to change the blade for work with non-standard equipment.

Other: It's good to have one at home, especially if you have private network :)

  • Nice Tool!

Pros: I'm very satisfied with that tool! It works perfectly and it feels tough. In Germany you have to pay more than 50 $ for that tool. An advantage is that the fold-out tools (hook and screwdriver!?!) are marked on the davice housing, so you can find the right tool faster.

Cons: Nothing yet. Just had to fix some screws, but I think, it wasn't necessary. Feels very strong and tough. Nothing is going to loose.

Other: Nothing special to add here... Lets see, how long this tool will be a good partner on my affairs.

  • Excellent tool, excellent price.

Pros: As always, an excellent price for a good quality tool. The build is solid enough that it feels like it will last a long time.

Cons: The springs inside of it were a little stiff to begin with, but they soon worked themselves out after a few uses.

Other: An essential tool to have if you plan on doing any network or telephone cabling jobs. Buy 2 or 3, just in case you lose the first one. Better yet, give them to your mates as gifts and see if they can work out what it does!

  • Gets the job done at a good price.

    Pros: Very good price.
They work far better than using a screwdriver!
Clean cut ensures a professional finish.

Cons: Probably not suitable for a professional engineer.

Other: Very good price for a no nonsense gets the job done tool.
If you're using this for a personal project, its the tool to go for. If you're quickly running a cable from one room to another, this is the tool for you.
If you're a professional engineer, this isnt. ;)

Pros: although it has a very good price, it is a good quality tool, solid build, feels good in tha hand, and does the exactly what it is supposed to do.

Cons: Nothing bad i can think of, hope it lasts a long time.

Other: for that price, it is a good add on to my toolbox.
if you need it, dont think about about it, just buy it.
it costs 8 times more at my local store.

  • Does the job but seems a little cheaply made

posted by classicmac on 21:26:33 G8T 21/08/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Well for the price it is great. Would never expect I could get a punch down tool for this price. If you just need something to get the job done then this should work. Because it is made out of mostly plastic it is very light in weight.

Cons: The tool seems cheaply made and might not stand up to long term use. The cutting mechanism is like a scissors as opposed to a blade that cuts the wire on impact. Because of this the wire is not cut as close. Also this tool does not have an interchangeable blade and is set to always cut.

Other: You really can't beat it for the price. I don't know how Dealextreme can even offer it at such a low price. If you will be using it for more than a few uses you may want to consider spending a few more dollars for a better tool. SKU 6386 is a tool most will be used to and is only a few dollars more. The spring on 6386 strong though so it makes a little while to break it in.

Pros: Build quality seems a little less than the more expensive ones found in local stores.
The price is great. The tool has been used to krone many patch panels and has shown no signs of wear or going blunt.

Cons: It could have came with a protective case so it dosn't stab you when you carry it in your pocket.
The case that came with it didn't last long

Other: Good quality krone tool at a very reasonable price.
If you require one, I would recommend this one to anyone.

    Pros: What a bargain!
While it doesn't stack up against the pro tools we use in the industry, I still gave it a 5* for build quality... why?
It survived a fall from a 3 storey building and still works unflawed, (I was expecting to be looking for pieces ;P)
Overall, It's cheap, it does exactly what its supposed to do and they have proven durable enough to survive our working conditions.

Cons: I can't really fault anything about it for the price it's exactly what you'd expect + a little extra.

Other: If you need these for your work or for a little bit of line maintenance around the home grab a few. They have proven a reliable little unit.
    5*
Cheap, Easy to use, durable, and useful.
