Replacement Housing Case for NDS Lite (Translucent Black)

Pros: * Nice case for DS lite. * Come with all screws and covers, even with a (black, non crystal) stylus and borders for both screens * Quality is pretty good

Cons: * Not for "dummies" : It rather hard to replace a ds lite case
* I'm a bit worried regarding possible scratch, as case is "crystal" (hard plastic, so scratch will be more visible)

Other: Recommanded, but only if you know what you do.
Changing NDSL case is really not easy !

Pros: The case is a good replacement if u need it or want to mix and match parts. It comes with replacement screws and the trigger parts(not springs). It comes with replacement screen borders, ds stylus and the slot 2 cover

Cons: On a Ds lite it looks a bit greyish. Seems to be thinner than the original case but it alright. The L button gets jammed a little so requires a little file down

Other: Good case to order but only if u are going to swap the whole thing. For the price its great value considering other sites have it for $40 without shipping

Pros: Everything except the internal screen protectors were of good quality. My screen protector was a generic clear plastic that came scratched.

Cons: The screens were of horrible quality.

Other: Replacing a DSL housing is simply not worth it I think. Especially since I ended up damaging my DSL system. I had to purchase a new one.

Pros: It's the cheapest clear case around, even when comparing to ebay. It's not a bad fit either. It's not as bad as the cheap stuff on ebay, and it's as good as the best stuff that I have used from ebay. It takes me around 1 hour to do a case replacement, I have probably done about 5-10 case replacement this year for the ds lite. My first case replacement took me nearly 3 hours and I broke the mic wire it was cut between the top screen and the plastic case. this is a coaxial wire... you cannot resolder it back together. Gradually I broke less and sped up the process. Yesterday I did a case replacement in 54 mins. Fortunately I have alot of spare parts laying around. I prefer to use OEM peices as much as possible. Sometime I frankinstein a DS lite together from spareparts, it's always fun.

Cons: Parts don't fit like OEM, but you cannot expect it to at this price. You should feel that way OEM top pieces fit first. It feels nice and smooth. You won't get this feeling here. I have used some other cheapo cases and it's alot worst, I spend even more time shaving off more plastic with my dremel, so spending a few more dollars save me a little more time. I bought a 12$ case on ebay once, very bad. I bought a 30$ case from ebay and it's about the same stuff from DE. first thing I do is inspect the new case, using exacto, sometime dremel, I go ahead and smooth out the rough spots and extra plastic that is left from the mold. I only do it places that matters, like where parts slides to close together like the top. The screen cover that is concluded with the kit is crap, so I just use the original. The metal piece that bridge the GBA game slot is weak, so i remove those too and replace with OEM. The hinge cap on the right side where the power LED is doesn't have a clear LED plastic, so you will have to transfer it from your old DS. There are 2 different versions of this, If you have an older DS, the LED clear plastic may not fit! YOu may have to revert back to using your old DS bottom or live without the LED clear plastic. Also using a small drill, very small, I drill the holes in the bottom casing where the Y screws goes in. Reason is that there is too much plastic and you can strip the Y screw due to large force screwing this in. Other screws seems to be ok without drilling.

Other: Case replacement is not easy. As a noob, you are more likely to break off the power switch, the volume switch, loosing the L+R spring, damage the small speaker/wireless/mic wires. .. I know I have.

Pros: Does a good job of protecting the DS.
Looks cool enough.
(Luckily) Comes with its own screws and pads.

Cons: The screw holes are pretty weak, and I threaded some of the screws in the first installation.

Other: Get this replacement shell if you need it, but I wouldn't buy it just to replace it for fun... Comes in a fair amount of time (that might have changed from the time I had ordered it.) Make sure that you know what you're doing, or you'll end up worse off than you started.

Pros: This is a great replacement housing, with all parts and screws included, even enough to not need any tri-wing when you're done.
The black is dark enough that you're not distracted looking at the traces on the boards, but you can still see inside clearly.

Cons: No instructions are included, but with some critical thinking, you can figure this out.

Other: Be prepared for what you're doing, and this is a GREAT way to catch attention with your console. I've uploaded some shots of the finished thing, and if that doesn't make you want to do this, you have no love of style.

Cons: *Replacing a DS shell is quite difficult. *I've found that replacement DS buttons aren't quite as responsive as the original Nintendo ones.

Other: If your DS is useless due to a broken shell and you think you can handle replacing it, give it a shot! It feels pretty good holding your new, modded, and working DS.

Pros: The package comes with nearly all the bits and pieces required to put it together - naturally, excluding the screwdriver(s), motherboard, etc. This is good, because the screws from the factory case do not all fit.

Cons: It's fairly obvious that wherever the company got their molds, they didn't get them from Nintendo - or if they did, the company didn't give them perfect ones. There's a very specific flaw in the upper half that prevents the case halves from going neatly into each other, and compromises the hinge. Speaking of the hinge, while it is quite durable if installed correctly, it's very easy due to the flaw to mess it up, making it far weaker.

Other: If you're a casual gamer who's gotten their case broken, go ahead and make your case look awesome. If you're a more hardcore gamer, you may just want to bite the bullet, use this as a stopgap, and get yourself a 3DS.
