The retracting mechanism is bound to come apart. Once it does, just pull out the cable so that you don't have any retracting mechanisms attached to the cable.

Other: If you have a laptop without a mic and want to have a cheap starter VOIP setup use this.

Pros: Quality is fine. They got home really fast. They are easy to take in any bag. The sound of the earbuds is loud and clear. The retractable mechanism works fine. Maybe i will buy more of them, because it is always good to have one near each of my computers and other equipments.

Cons: The microphone doesn't work very fine. You have to speak very close to the it in order to your voice picked up. The wires are thin, so they are easy to break. They haven't broken so far.

Other: Cheap, overall good quality. I would recommend you to buy a lest 2 or 3. A piece of advice: Try to speak close to the mic.

Pros: Great for the price! I have a netbook and some times i make some voip calls with it, so that fact that this device is retractable saves me time when organizing all the wires i transport with it!

Cons: Most of the times I have to place the mic very close to me in order to the other party to hear me! So i have to use one hand to do it, so it's not 100% hands free.
Some times the earbud hurts a little, because it is made of hard plastic.

Other: Really good for the price! For my case, it is good enough, but it is not a good replacement for a full featured head set.
