Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Tiny -Belt clip -Single cr123 device -Fair battery life -Light weight -Easy to use
Cons: -Belt clip seems flimsy -Acrylic lens -All edges seem sharp -Grip checkering not aggressive enough for my taste -Strike bezel is a joke -No Lanyard hole
Other: Easily worth the price, but it could use a little more "umph." 120 lumens would really be better for this specific light, but the output and battery life is adequate for work use. A good pocket unit, but really needs some beefing up.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - It's small - It seems to be of a very decent build quality - It has a belt clip - Nice hotspot with some flood around it - My rechargable cr123 fit perfectly - It's pretty cheap
Cons: Well, it could always get brighter, but for the size it's not bad.
Other: If you want a small light that uses cr123, and don't need overpowerdly brightness, this is a good buy.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Decent build quality, good light output, probably close to the rating of 80 lumens, but I have no means of measuring this. Light pattern is good and useful, not too spotty, good enough spill. Hole at the base of the clip makes it possible to attach a lanyard. The clip seems quite decent to me, it is fastened by two screws.
Cons: Not very many things to mention at this price, but one of the screw holes for the clip had damaged threads so the screw did only rotate in its hole. The clip is not a thing I would use much anyhow.
Other: This light is definitely worth its price if you are looking for a CR 123 light. I am using a rechargeable battery in this and it works excellent.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: First and foremost, THIS LIGHT IS CHEAP! This light puts out quite a bit more light than I thought. Built quite tough. Looks very cool. Easy to resell. Threads are decent quality.
Cons: The light is on the blueish side. No o-rings. Pressed in tail cap switch. Not an easy to mod light.
Other: At this price, don't buy just 1 to try out. Buy at least 4. Don't forget to buy extra batteries and a charger. This charger is an excellent cheap choice for this light. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.998 This light is pretty tough and reliable.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This light is very well built. To be a generic high powered led, it is also very bright. Much brighter than the stated 80 lumens. A noticeable amount brighter than my Fenix HL20 on high, so I expect it is putting out around 140-170 lumens on a fully charged protected 16340 (which fits perfectly). I have two of these and they both draw ~800 ma on a fully charged battery.
The beam pattern is a fairly tight throw type beam with a soft transition to a relatively dim spill. This is definitely a good light for throwing a beam to far away objects while still retaining a bit of spill and not an emiiter-shaped beam like a fresnel optic. I think this beam pattern is perfect for most uses, although it has little use as a soft flood light.
Cons: Not waterproof, just water resistant.
Nothing I can think of for this price.
Other: My favorite DX light and it is just about the cheapest there is. Will also fit a 1" scope ring if you want to use it for a weapon light.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Good Light output especially considering the size.
Fits comfortably in the hand, but does not feel like it will slip.
Small size, perfect for the pocket.
The back switch is textured which is nice for finding it without looking.
Uses either CR123 or rechargeable 16340 which are rather easy to find.
Cons: The paint on the clip is flaky at best, pieces were chipping when received.
The clip is a joke anyway, the construction of the clip is fine, the screws do not hold it firmly and it is next to impossible to get it out quickly. It just moves to much.
It does get warm quicker then most lights, so expended use is not a good idea
Other: It works for close up and gives out alot of light for it's compact size. Would recommend to someone who isn't looking to tinker with it and just needs a small light with decent output.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This item is compact, lightweight (~ 80 g with battery) and offers a lot of light, more throw than flood which is very fine for common use. Very good price. Body should be water proof.
Cons: The body has several sharp edges, which makes this flashlight "out of box" incompatible to jacket or trouser pockets. I could polish them away, no big thing if you have the right tools, but no solution for everyone.
Other: Very good buy if you want to have a small flashlight running on CR 123 lithium batteries.
