Pros: 2x External ports OR 2x internal ports 3132 chipset supports raid Small size and uses new PCI express x1 connector External connectors are normal Sata so you don't need special eSata cables.
Cons: You can only use either both external, both internal, or one of each. Chipset only supports 2 ports and you use the jumpers to set which ones you want to use.
Other: Cheap, flexible configuration (one internal harddrive plus one external for example)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: All the PCI-e cards around seem to be RAID versions with a minimum of 4 ports costing near $200AUD. Just needed more ports for expansion, not hardware or software RAID so this card was a great find. If you had enough PCI-e slots these cards are great way to expand on the cheap.
Cons: No Cons that I can think of. Card does what it needs to.
Other: Card is cheap and effective!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: * Small size
* 4 SATA connectors (you can't use them all at the same time, but still, 4 connectors)
* Works in Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit (tested with Ultimate edition)
* RAID
* No driver issues with multiple connected SATA-chipsets in the same machine. I have SATA chipsets from VIA, ICH and now SlI all running at the same time with devices attached to them.
Cons: * Does not support non-raidable devices, such as SATA DVD-writers or DVD-ROM -drives.
* If I plug in a non-bootable HDD, my computer will not start unless I go into the card's own raid setup (F4) during boot up and exit the setup.
Other: A really cheap RAID PCI-E Expansion card that is also bootable. The PCI-E connection makes it quite fast... faster than regular PCI cards with SATA chipset(s). If you're short on SATA-slots and you want more harddrives connected to your PC, I recommend buying this.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's cheap and offers two ports working at one time. Installation is very easy. Also drivers can be found from internet easily.
Cons: You has to choose whether you use internal or external ports. So this is not actually 4-port card as it has only two working simultaneusly. Changing what ports you use has to be done with jumpers what is a bit outdated nowdays.
Other: If you need few SATA ports for cheap. Buy this. If you require something more advance like good RAID card you should consider something else.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: I've bought this card in order to have more SATA connections, I've selected the PCI express in order to gain more speed and not be restricted to the bus of the regular PCI.
WORKS!!!!!
Cons: It took me around 2 hours to finally get this card sorted and to have it adding the drive i've connected to it.
I've tried like 4 different drives, cables, tighten the connectors and what not.
Eventually, all i needed was to install the SaTARAID5 software from silicone images website in order to have installed correctly.
Button line is that the enclosed CD is worthless, i ended up downloading the driver and software from the internet.
Other: Cheap product, does what is suppose to do.
Worthless CD!!!!!!
Download the driver and SATARAID5 tools from their website:

Pros: Its a small card and do the work, i was afraid that it wont work with windows 7, but for my impression it altomatically install the drivers on windows 7 On boot screen its really a fast boot, not like the promisse controllers that take ages to boot up
Cons: the only problem its that work with just 2 channel and not 4, or 2 inside or 2 outside or 1 inside and 1 external
Other: i recommend, its small, easy install, come with cd drivers and manual, and chipset its silicon, easy to find on brand site

Pros: I wanted a PCI-E card to run a SATA DVD burner and occasionally an external E-SATA drive. This does the job nicely.
I set it up with one internal and one external port and connected the SATA DVD to the internal port. I started 64 bit Windows 7 and it automatically downloaded the softraid 5 driver. I rebooted so it would apply the update. I went to Drive Manager and selected Flash BIOS from the SIL3132 entry under Storage Controllers. It showed that I had a 128kb SST 39SF010 flash chip, and version 7.4.05 of the BIOS - dated 10-05-2006.
I downloaded Ver 7.7.03 from the silicon image website and loaded the RAID version (starts with r...) using the FLASH BIOS option. It worked perfectly.
Even though it's running the RAID BIOS, I am just running the DVD from it.
SATA 2 based, according to the specs.
External connection is E-SATA ,not SATA like an earlier poster received.
Cons: 4 pairs of jumpers to select 2 of 4 connectors? That's clunky.
Other: Great value.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The two sata cables that came with it are long, and useful.
The jumpers were set in the right position by default (to the two internal ports)
It is bootable
The box that it came in is nice, especially the anti-static plastic around the card itself.
The card is small enough to fit in my computer case.
Cons: Can't use all 4 ports at the same time, but I don't think I'll be using that. I bought it mainly to use as a replacement for the broken onboard sata controller on my motherboard.
Other: Does what it's supposed to.
