Pros: Been looking all my life for the next best head lamp. This baby has so far been great, hoping it holds out like my other lights have. The head band and front and back that contact the head fits me great. The front and back are molded into a curve for a comfortable, snug, and secure fit so the light doesn't jostle around. The focus/zoom works simply by pulling out the lens piece or pushing it in. Bright! it is nearly as bright as my Romisen that has 6 Cree Q4 LEDS! The XM-L t6 has a decent color that is not too blue. It has a high beam and low and strobe. The low could be a little less bright for working at close quarters. The strobe is useless, as always. I has a nice wide radius while still maintaining a good level of brightness into the distance at the wide angle setting. At the zoomed in setting, the spot is a square, which is fine, but annoying that it is not level. Comes with batteries and charger in a decent box.

Cons: Spot/zoom beam is not level, but it is not a big deal as I rarely use it at the spot setting.

Other: A good value. Don't hesitate. Git 'em, boy!

  • Reasonably Bright but really cheap

Pros: Reasonably bright; clicky button works well. Feels great while wearing; best headstrap I have had on! Zoom function can be useful.

Cons: Light is blueish and cold (nothing like Magicshine products). It is brighter than my Ultrafire 250 lumen flashlight, nowhere near 800 lumens. Square spot beam pattern is strange and not level with the horizon, but doesn't affect brightness. Beware!! While charging the 2400mAh 18650's, once charger light turned green; checked batteries for heat. Both batteries got quite hot! One got so hot, it partially melted the blue plastic covering and gave off a smell like a burnt electric motor. Never leave unattended while charging! Buy a cheap charger (SKU 13820 for example) and be nicer to your 18650's and your headlamp's battery case! Using the included charging system will likely reduce the life expectancy of your headlamp and greatly reduce the life expectancy of your 18650's! Don't use it!! Still a good light!

Other: I like it other than the absolute worst and dangerous Mickey Mouse charging system that I have ever encountered with Chinese LED lights.

  • Great Wide mode, and Zoom

posted by rfdude on 07:31:46 G3T 02/03/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Appears to be of a higher quality caliber. Well balanced. Fits well. Easy to operate light switch, adjustable angle and zoom. Very wide and consistent light across the spot. No dark spots or rings when in the wide mode. Best Suited for close-in work (which is why a headlamp is usually needed). Long throw zoom is available if required.

Cons: No reflector to provide a bright and tight long throw zoom. Brightness of zoom is consistent with the $12 zoom flashlights available on this site. The square LED die gets focused and projected by the collimator lens, not a reflector, so some light is lost. A Cree T6 flashlight with a reflector will be much brighter than this headlamp in its most narrow zoom. The black battery compartment snaps are molded plastic folding hinges. The 4 hinges appear white due to the folding, so I'm expecting that with repeated opeartion, they could suffer fatigue and tear at some point. Best to leave the batteries in place and charge them with the supplied charger. Not waterproof.

Other: Appears to be best value for a universal headlight that is best suited as a close-in work light, but still has a reasonable long throw when required.

Pros: Fully loaded, nothing is to be outsourced, works out of the box. Fast zoom. The package is beautiful, good Polygraphy.

Cons: On the box it is written 350 lumens and not 800. If you frequently open the battery compartment latch can break down. Not a universal charger.

Other: In General, the purchase of the content. It seems to me, the smooth reflector brightness could be higher.

Pros: Extreemly good light. Fits good on head. Easy in use.

Cons: Batterycapasity at full power is not long at all, 2 houres. Batterycase is sheap, and the locking clips doesnt work. Plastick knob that protect the charging port, doesnt do whats it should. And the charging port is on the top of the batterybox, and when its raining the water find its way down in the charhing port.

Other: All in all a very good headlamp, but remember to by alot of extra batteries and a charger.

  • The best in its price range

    posted by Ringmaster2 on 08:05:31 G4T 25/04/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very bright, strong and good design of the led case; good thermal control and it doesn't move with shakes like other headlamps. Fast zoom, The package is beautiful, good Polygraphy.

Cons: Batterycase is cheap, and the locking clips doesnt work, they can break with the continuous use. As you don't need to open the case frecuently 'cause the charger works with a plugin, it is not a serious problem (you can use glue to fix it). The batteries are rated to 2400mAh but the real capacity look like 2000mAh.

Other: It doesn't come with an universal power plug adaptor, if you want to sell worldwide, you have to include it.

  • Worth every penny

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Not bad luminous flux for this price. With this battery capacity this seems to runs forever.

Cons: Flimsy battery box construction and zoom lens. The battery pack clips look like they might fall off any minute. This is not a real problem, though. You can always tape the battery compartment closed and use the included charger. Zoom in is rather useless, as the bean turns into a emitter-shaped square.

Other: Definitely more than you'd expect for the price. Even the batteries are included. I would recommend this for occasional users.
