Solar Powered Self-Recharge White Light 3-LED Flashlight

Pros: The solar cel works fine. I let it drain all the way over 24hrs until it was dead (tried switching it on and off, no power). Then put it in the sun, and it soon charged to become nice and bright as it's always been. Surprisingly lightweight. I like that it's flat. Switch seems good quality and good build.

Cons: None that I can see. Price is so-so. A similar light (the Nebo solar) sells for a lot more ($16) though on the Nebo you can remove the rechargable battery. On this one from DealExtreme, you can't. Probably won't be a problem though.

Other: I'll probably pick up a 2nd.

Pros: Contains REAL 13 cell amorphous silican solar panel and REAL LIR2440 rechargable lithium battery. Also contained on the tiny pc board inside is a charging regulator IC so you could charge from a 5 volt USB source. This type of solar cell does not require direct sunlight to create a charging current.

Cons: The cool USB charging feature (IC circuit) is worthless because the charging jack is non-standard and DX DIDN'T BOTHER TO SEND THE USB CHARGING CABLE AS DESCRIBED IN THE ADD.

Other: A couple of good parts to work into other projects, but to fragile (toylike) to depend on as an emergency light or the like.

Pros: Good price - these gadgets here in Czech republic are much expensive Big solar panel You don't care about batteries and about charging Brighter as i thought it will be, but hey, it is gadget/emergency light - don't compare it to super bright flashlight. USB charging function with controller (also big con, see below)

Cons: Build quality is not so good - the solar panel is unprotected which is good for efficiency - no reflections from plastic and all energy goes straight to the panel but it is fragile. The charging controller is NOT working good - li-ion cells have maximum charging voltage 4,20V and I measured now 4,30V when charging from USB - voltage this high will kill the battery very soon! It can even explode in worst-case scenario. The battery is not 800mAh as promised - it is used standard LIR2440 - this type has around 90mah capacity but look at the price :-)

Other: Good gadget as emergency light or just household portable light when you need for example find something under your bed. Good thing that it is still ready and you don't care about batteries - when you don't use so much, it will selfrecharge.
