What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: when its sunny it will charge the battery up, it holds the charge in its internal battery and you can use usb powered devices such as lamps, mobile phones and fans just like theyre plugged into a pc, handy for camping trips
Cons: it borked my ipod, i left the ipod plugged into it to charge and the solar charger sucked all the battery power out of my ipod for its own battery and the ipod wouldnt charge from it
its kind of useless if its cloudy and the battery needs charging
you need to use 2 switches to make it work, can be a bit confusing to get used to
Other: works ok, not very helpful if its flat and it isnt sunny though
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Has 3 output ports (2*USB, 1 jack for included accesories).
- Car Charger included (which is good, because the input jack looks like a headphone jack, which isn't really standard)
- Tricolor indicator (really 2 LEDs) indicating charging status (Red - Low, Orange, Green - Full)
- Mostly metal construction. That said, just because the case is "fireproof" doesn't mean the battery won't explode in a fire.
Cons: - Battery, as usual, is not up to spec. See Other Thoughts. (Summary: Battery is about 1,000 mAH)
- No USB based Input port; either wall or car.
- Slow recharge rate: 6 hours for full charge on mains power. Compare: NDS Lite, which has a similar battery, requires at most 4.
- Labels on device not clear: "LED 1" is actually a charging indicator. (See pictures)
- The hinge does NOT lock in any position. It either completely open or completely closed. (i.e. the image on the box has something behind it, supporting it)
Other: The solar panels are useless in terms of charging anything on the fly; this will allow you to go off mains power.
The 1,000 mAH battery should allow you to use your drained device for a few hours until you get home (or multiple drained devices for an hour).

Pros: Collect solar energy for later use.
Has LED light so it can be used as a flashlight (although a bulky one).
Can tell if fully charged (the charging like will light up even under a lamp if fully charged).
Selectable voltage output.
While off, can plug USB from computer to the charger's output using a 2-headed USB cables that comes with some portable hard drives, and the output light will light up. Then, plug the cell phone adapters into the other output. I can use this method to charge my cell phone via USB cable (my cell phone does not use the mini-USB connector to charge).
Cons: Can drain battery of device to be charged instead of charging it if you leave it on. My cell phone will start draining once the charger ran out of battery power, so I have to watch it charge to prevent it from eating up all the power after the charger drained itself, or else I wind up wasting energy.
Doesn't charge if it's only partially bright. So I usually leave it on a window for a few sunny days.
Other: If you can sit around and watch it charge (or somehow know when it's drained), then you can save some energy. Otherwise, this is going to cost instead of save energy.
Could use it as a plug type converter.
