Soldering Iron Tip Cleaner (Black)

Pros: Hard to tell from the pictures, but it does have full metal construction. Is very sturdy and has nice little rubber feet.

Cons: Could still be a little bit cheaper. It isn't particularly easy to knock over, but it could still be a little bit more weighted down on the base.

Other: The perfect soldering iron cleaning tool! A must have for every professional's workbench - goes along perfectly with your fancy soldering station.

Pros: The product is 5 stars, cheap(price), metalic case, works well and lengthen your sodering iron's tip a lot! You can't find anything like that in Brazil!

Pros: I use this with my profi solder station like weller. It's great product I can say. You can quickly clean your solder tip, much faster than with original "sponge".

Cons: Maybe prize, but if you look other product like this you will see, that this is lowest prize you can get!

Other: If you are electronic, hobby or proffesional, this is must have tool. Don't waste your time with your old "sponge", I did't realiaze how simple is with this product.

Pros: The case is made from sufficiently thick and sturdy metal. It is heavy enough to stay on place during usage. It is incredible fun and easy to clean the tip just by inserting it into the wire coils. The tip cools down much lesser compared to the classical "wet sponge" solution. I am completely satisfied with the function

Cons: The package could contain a bit more of the golden coil material, as there is some empty space left in the black carrier.

Other: A real innovation. It is usable long time and can be refreshed just by moving the coil ball inside to other position

Pros: It's leaps and bounds over a wet sponge. Less thermal shock means that the soldering tip doesn't cool down as much, and it lasts longer. There's also no cleanup involved. It's great. It's also got rubber feet, so it won't slide around your work bench.

Cons: Fine solder particles can accumulate inside - not fine enough to be a breathing hazard, especially since it's trapped under a bunch of brass shavings, but still concerning.

Other: It's so much more convenient than a wet sponge. If you solder more than once a year, you have to get this thing.

Pros: Excellent to clean the soldering iron, cleans better and faster than the sponge, with no water boiling after much use.
The price is excellent for an item usefull and durable.
It can be washed so its durability is uncertain but long, very very long.

Cons: More weight or glued base would be great, because sometimes it has not enough strength when you pull the iron to separate by its own and you need to hold it with your hand or something else.

Other: Even using this, some micro-shaving can remain in the iron, so I RECOMMEND not to put aside the sponge totally. I recommend use this cleaner and then later pass the iron over the sponge to clean and let it totally smooth.

Pros: It cleans the tip very good. Works better than a sponge (although I also use the sponge for a final cleaning just before retinning the tip).
Compared to a sponge the temperature of the tip doesn't drop a lot.

Cons: It's too light. A more heavy base would make sure that it doesn't move around when cleaning your tip. Now I put it against the wall so that it won't slide away.
The instructions are in Engrish, not English. But after three readings you get what they mean.

Other: Works great and doesn't cost much. Recommended for everybody who solders a lot.

Pros: Completely made of metal. Opens easily allowing you to change to curls after they are filled with solder.

Cons: The bottom grip surface is made of only three tiny rubber patches. This makes the unit a little shaky when you poke the soldering iron into the curls. This can/could be easily solved by replacing the three patches with a single larger patch covering the whole base of the unit.

Other: Very good and inexpensive unit. Easily modifyable for your personal needs.

Pros: Made of metal, no plastic things to melt or brake.
It is easy to use and cleans my tip almost perfectly.

Cons: A little bit light, it could be a little heavyer, but it is very usable indeed!

Other: You must use the sponge after that little thingy, but it is most better than just using the sponge. I am using this with a Farenheit soldering station and it is very easy to use. Just put the tip in, rotate a bit and use the sponge if necesary.

Pros: o All metal, solid construction o Amusing instructions on box o Works as advertised o Reasonable price

Cons: Too light - it moves around too much when pushing soldering iron tip into metal ball. I fixed this problem by adding some lead fishing weights under the metal ball of wire.

Other: Although I was initially skeptical as to how efficient it would be compared to the conventional wet sponge for cleaning soldering iron tips, i use it definitely works better than a wet sponge. Buy one now :-)
