• P7 C SCC Module and how it performs with a 6D

posted by ticker on 11:45:10 G10T 04/10/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Large spill
Fits in the xenon 6D http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8488 with a bit of grinding of the top lip.

Cons: If your after a thrower, this will not satisfy you.

Other: If your after a led module to go in the 6D xenon and probably the 5D xenon as well, this module is a good choice.

Pros: Mucha luz y a gran distancia , sencillo.

• Nice reflector, tint, bad heatsinking under ssc P7

posted by proteinman on 05:47:54 G5T 31/05/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Nice reflector, screwed right into my wf500. Tint is awesome throws a massive spill and a decent hotspot, I reckon it would easily be good for 80-100 metres

Cons: After a min or so on the light would go really dim/off while still drawing current from the 2 batterys. Found that under the led there was some tape and thermal silicon, not the best having tape under an emitter for transferring heat away from led to heatsink.
I removed the led/tape and using thermal adhedive isolated the led from the heatsink electrically this did the trick and now it doesn't short out.

Other: If it worked without the issues I had I would be alot happier.

• Bright and Easy

posted by tz2026 on 23:57:53 G7T 21/07/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Removable parabolic reflector section
Springs to attach to batteries easily
Just provide 4-8 volts with adequate current and it works. No worrying about building something up.
Ultrabright. Especially for the small footprint.

Cons: Springs are the only positive connection, and the surface is the other. No wires or jacks or common connector.
The dimensions aren't published so it will be try this and that.
The compatible drop-in flashlight cases aren't listed so they are trial and error (perhaps with some grinding).

Other: Inexpensive and simple way to get a very bright light source you can adapt for various purposes.
Building it up from parts would be a lot more difficult, and breaking apart a flashlight would also be difficult.

Cons: Anyway it is very bright but with two 18650 finish very soon the batteries.I would like a opinion how can i use 3 18650 mayby with another driver?

• Works pretty good, modded for 6C M@g. ~400-500 lms

posted by dx007 on 15:58:39 G4T 25/04/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Complete drop in package, no need to gather all the parts. Reflector is solid aluminium, with a good amount of screwed on contact with the heat sink. This is a good thing, the reflector gets hot too after a few minutes of usage. The soldering job was better than the one in the picture on the product page.

Cons: Lumen - Not sure if it's the driver, or more likely the emitter is a low bin one. Comparing this to my 700 lumen and 160 lumen Cree lights, I am getting a guestimate of probably 400-500 lumen. Reflector - I noticed the inside of the reflector has tiny micro scratches, maybe they should have a peel off protective sheet on it. Packaging, needs to come in a thicker bag. The zip bag it came with had holes in it from being so thin.

Other: For $25, it's an OK value for the package and was a fun project to mod the m@g.

• Excellent!

posted by klacirtg on 15:54:34 G4T 28/04/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is a nice compact drop-in module. Very esay to use, good built. I put it in an older German torch which had halogen bulb. I just replaced the old plastic relfector and the SSC-P7 led immediately light on with a very nice spot and all the same throw light! Later I will change D-type batteries to LiPo so the modul will get enough volts to work with full power.

Cons: There is not much to say against this module.

Other: This item is very good choose for the money, it is worth to buy, because you can get a very good bright torch with good beam and throw in the same time nice cheap.

• All in one, a great buy for MagCharger too!

posted by DealHQ on 16:59:17 G9T 10/09/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very good build quality, just the right diameter for D-cell MagLites (possibly C-cell too, haven't tried), a complete drop-in package with minimal fitting for many flashlights.

Cons: The price is a bit on the high side, although justifiable for those who can't be bothered or don't know how to combine driver, emitter/base, heatsink and reflector.

Other: If you have a MagCharger this is probably the best and easiest upgrade on the market. Highly recommended. The only problem might be that your friends will ask you to convert their MagChargers too once they see yours.

• Excelent Module

posted by Polara on 07:40:50 G12T 08/12/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Solid building, good soldering and nice matching of the emitter and the reflector. Better than shown in the pictures. Nice light pattern, strong thrower and adequate flood.

Cons: Poor packaging. The zip bag is so thin that it´s almost a miracle the module has arrived working. Many scratches inside the reflector.

Other: DX should provide better packaging for this gadget.
