What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Has a wide range of temperatures
Long metal probe.
Adjusts for C and F
Cons: Doesn't acquire temperature straight away - seems to probe at 2 second intervals, and takes about 15-20 seconds to get the final temperature. This might be because the temperature probe is inside a metal sheath which takes time to heat up and/or cool down to the correct temperature.
Other: Overall, for the money, this is not a bad temperature probe. I will be using it for food - just got to keep in mind that it is a bit slow.

Pros: I love to cook, so a few months ago I started doing cheese (with sheep milk) in my house. I needed the thermometer, though. I went in a few shop in my town and found very high prices. I didn't want to spend so much so I checked the Deal Extreme site and here it is, MY thermometer! It works very well, it is easy to use and light. It measures the temperature pretty fast and cost very little money. The same exact thermometer in the shop in my town cost $18!!! I am very satisfied that I bought a second one for a friend of mine who is willing to do cheese like me. By the way, my cheese is very good!!!
Cons: No cons.
Other: Very good item!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This is perfect for cooking: I use it a lot, for example to measure the inner temperature of meat to check whether it had the right "doneness" of to measure the water temperature when boiling an egg (the perfect temperature for that is between 80 and 90 degrees centigrade, not 100 degrees as many people think). Build quality seems quite fine.
Cons: A real con of this thing is that it's quite slow - it really takes a while to show the correct temperature. The one we have at the restaurant I work at is waaaay faster. I'm actually considering getting another one because of this one's slowness.
Other: Works fine but slow.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Easy to use, precise and fast. Perfect for measuring the inner temperature of meat cooked at low temperature for maximum juice! Wide rage of temperature from deep frozen to 'damn hot'
Cons: Look a little bit cheap, but what else can you expect at this price level?
Other: Good investment for a hobby cook
