What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: + small & cheap, rich in features, easy to use
+ gets the job done
+ default ip address of the web interface and admin id/pw are printed on a label below, so you don't have to dig out the manual
Cons: - webGUI interface (your only interface to the device) is in CHINESE ONLY. However, if you are familiar with router configuration and such, with a bit of translation (see below), you shouldn't have problem using it
- manual is Chinese only (I didn't have to refer to it at all)
- as expected, the BT function is quite primitive. You cannot download files selectively, no transport encryption, no max active torrent setting, no mad up/download slots, no renaming, etc.
- the LED for the 2 USB ports do not blink to indicate read/write activities
Other: If you need one and know how to use one, not a bad choice.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - very cool functions: ftp without computer, torrent client, local server
- nice dimensions (small device!)
- english firmware
Easy to use. I use it for downloading fils on my 16GB pen drive, wich I can access throught my LAN.
Cons: only one: print-share is enabled, but printing is NOT possible. reasons is a mystery.
Other: Excelent for save energy when you use the computer 24/7 downloading from torrent sites. You just have to access it's setup web page and upload torrent link files to start download to your external usb drive, pendrive or any usb storage device connected. Very useful to share files throught networks, also.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The initial GUI is in Chines, but you can download the English firmware here which will enable you English GUI.
Cons: UNICODE is a big problem.
Choosing Hebrew makes the device useless somehow. You better stay with the default English.
Other: It's a cheap NAS, function well.
If you don't have UNICODE problem it is great.
Although, I would have checked the TonidoPlug as well.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Good price. Very small. Easy to use. You better update your firmware to have English UI (look for the link in this page)
Cons: The CPU of this device is not strong so don't except high rate of information transforming. I found out that it's better to use ext3 format rather than fat32 or NTFS. From my tests, NTFS is the slowest format for this device. UNICODE support is not so good unless you will format and start using the HD from scratch with this device.
Other: It's a good product from a home based NAS. Not good for high rates streaming but for local storage of photos, mp3 and small videos - it's great.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Very Small device - Has no fans nor an internal HDD so it's completly silent - Interesting set of features - Can be firmware upgraded (I recommend) - Appears to have a very good build quality
Cons: - Processor is not the fastest out there - Rather slow with NTFS drives
Other: Good device to use as a torrent client and as a server to distribute your digital contents to all the computers in your house
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Very small device
- Completly silent, had no fans
- Compatible with snake 0S 1.0x (Runs prefect here)
-Good build quality
- Has nice features
- Nice price
Cons: Maybe a faster CPU is welcome.
Nothing else so far
Other: If you use snake OS you will get a nice torrent download client and webserver. I recommed a firmware upgrade. Upgrading firmware can be done in 5 minutes.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This tiny NAS alows me to leave two USB drives next to my router and access them from the whole network. I can even listen to songs from one of them on my phone over wifi.
Cons: Extremely slow. the top sustained speed I'm getting is less than 300KB/s. I haven't been able to access password shares from Windows7 PCs.
Other: If what you need is print, there are specialized print servers for the same price that SHOULD be better. It is cheap, but slow for files. That is ok if you'll use it for data backup, you can schedule that backup for overnight and the volume isn't too big. OK for streaming music if it is the only task, forget about streaming video.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -It's a little nas,for the price is a good buy. -it's small (9 cm x 6,5 cm); -Silent -nice features (with snakeos they works better) - Cheap solution
Cons: -Cpu faster -more usb support (original firmware support only 2, with snakeos and a little hub usb unlimited)
Other: if you want a little torrent server or a shared files server this is the best solution for a cheap price. the original firmware is bugged and slow.. try snakeos for better performace
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Very good price/quality!
- Solid build quality
- Dispide of earlier reviews/posts mine does nog get hot, just normal warm.
- Has enough power on the USB-ports to power a 2,5" HD
- Once you upgrade the firmware to SnakeOS the possibilities expand a lot.
Cons: - The troughput of the USB-devices is not very fast, but if you use EXT2 (Linux) as filesystem, then the speed is acceptable.
- A faster cpu with a little more memory would improve the overall speed a lot.
Other: By this little device, upgrade it to the latest version of SnakeOS (now 1.1.0) and enjoy this little treasure.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This equipment, after installed snakeos version 1.1.0 turned into an amazing file and printer sharing/server. Tested on printers: multifunctional HP PSC 2400 and old Epson Stylus COlor 640 (the epson is parallel, and i've connected using a parallel to USB adapter). And everything worked! Grab your snakeos here and be happy: http://code.google.com/p/snake-os/
Cons: The only con is the price, i'd prefer it for US$ 1,99...
Other: Buy it if you need a nas or a printer server. It doesnt need a disk plugged to work as printer server. Dont forget when upgrade to snakeos, to have a device plugged and configured as "C", before upload snakeos firmware.
