  • Most light for the money (Spot light)

Pros: This CREE T6 is extremly BRIGHT! (Brighter than older MJ-808 P7) Very nice price Build quality feels good Cables are long enough, longer than old MJ-808 P7 Nice simple head lamp strap included

Cons: Charging takes longer (diffrent charger than MJ-808 P7) Looks like no compabillity between Magicshine cable connectors, you can not charge this battery with old charger.

Other: This is a spot light, not flood light, even compared to old MJ-808 P7 this one have even more spot light, the reflector seems to be more shiny, be aware of that...

  • Great ligt, low beem too low, not too good battery

Pros: It's an XML and bright as you might expect. The lamp is sealed with o-rings and I'd expect it to be waterproof. Glass lens, aluminum reflector. Pretty small size. Unfortunately that means worse heat transfer too. At room temperature and no air flow it gets to about 50C temperature in 5 minutes. XML led glued on. Proper heat transfer is to be expected.

Cons: The battery is srink wrapped. Without further sealing it is not waterproof enough. The battery seems to have no pcb for protection. The charger outputs only 1A which means long charging times. It does not balance cells either. (Time for another charger and adding a balancing lead) Connectors have no lip like magicshine connectors and they are not as waterproof as magicshine connectors are. (They are compatible though although a tiny bit loose) Low mode is VERY low. I measured light output about 1/9 of the high mode at low. This is good enough to be seen, I'd prefer something like 33-50% at low beam. Full power is often too much when commuting and 10% low beam is not enough to see properly. I'll probably need to modify the light just because of this. I'd prefer a better mounting system than the o-rings. The foam is not too sticky either, probably needs adding a piece of rubber for better stability if the o-rings are not very tight on your handlebar.

Other: Great light for the price but it need minor tweaking as expected. The extremely dim low beam is a huge con for me.

  • the best light

Pros: White light, lights up like a powerful flashlight. The material and construction quality very good for the money you have. Easy to attach to the bicycle.

Cons: I have nothing to say against. Perhaps the reflector should be corrugated, to flood more alike. Because it has a more powerful central

Other: I recommend it to everyone, for this price you will not find anything better. It's the best bike light I've seen. Everyone who has seen it has been amazed at the price and quality. You should not miss a light like this to anyone!

  • GREAT light

Pros: This is a great item, it is VERY bright and mine offers several different modes: after connectimng the emitter to the battery it blinks in SOS mode (... - - - ... and so on), pushing the button switches to VERY bright, pushing again dimms and pushing again switches off. To get to SOS mode again you need to disconnect and wait a minute, if you want VERY bright just push the button again. Build quality is very good, looks very professional, I did however have to move the LED emitter to the center, but that was no problem at all (just opened the lamp and pushed the emitter). The connector looks stable, the batteries (4x 18650 switched to 2 parallel packs of two serial 18650 cells) is sealed in some isolation and overall it looks good. It gives light for about three hours and when I say it gives light it surely DOES give light.

Cons: None that I am aware of.

Other: buy it. It's good and worth every cent. No even more.

  • Good - but not working as it should

    posted by Serg1970 on 12:16:23 G9T 19/09/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -Very bright, Good-quality, -Small size, -Easy to use

Cons: I'm trying to charge for the first time - a few minutes on the charger the red LED to indicate charging process - and then switches to the green - light after it runs about 3 minutes on maximum power and switches off completely. There is a suspicion of battery failure. I'll try a few times to charge - discharge, maybe something will change ...

Other: A good light - but if there is no work will be very sad (waiting for a whole month)

  • A great bike light!!

posted by WeaselHunter on 09:34:08 G9T 22/09/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: *One of the best "light/price" ratio on DX, so probably one of the best of web.
*The light head is really small and light. It can easily fit on your handlebar.
*The runtime is quite long, a full charge last more than 3 hours. (I only used the highest brightness
*1200 Lumen is indeed VERY bright, you can ride your bike at night wothout wondering what's in front of you...

Cons: *The light beam could have been a bit larger. I might buy a second one to have a bigger lit area when riding at night.
*When using the headband, the light beam is set to the floor, unless you place the head band on top your head instead of placing it on your forehead.

Other: A great deal!!! No doubt here, if you want an efficient bike light, you just found it!

  • XML-T6 bright, excellent throw

posted by Johnit on 10:11:59 G9T 26/09/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: at this pricepoint, nothing can match it for performance. Excellent throw.

Cons: Battery pack not interchangeable with Magicshine - HAIII different electrical connectors. Spill too limited i.e. the focus is too narrow and too little light for the area outside center of the beam. An orange peel reflector would rectify this easily.
The power cable feeds from the front of the light instead of the back; inconvenient position.
light switch cap is only faintly illuminated, so it is not as easy to find the switch as on competing products.
My unit worked well on arrival, but soon developed a problem that it will not switch on, except a brief flash of less than a second. This is before I even had an attempt to test it on the bike.

Other: If reliability issues can be fixed, this is a winner. A slightly different reflector would make it more suitable for mountain biking.

  • Needs better optics or lens.

Pros: It's really bright, brighter then a Magicshine with a P-7 in it. It's small enough and lightweight enough. The price is nice and low. Very easy to mount on bars or helmet

Cons: It's a spot light! Way too tight of a hot spot for mountain biking. You just watch a small ball of light bounce around on the trail, it's distracting.
Another con is that you have to cycle through all modes to turn it off.
Of course I wish they would do away with the strobe and give it a medium mode. The low mode is only good for trail side repairs, it's too dim to ride with.

Other: If you can come up with a way to diffuse the hot spot, whether by using an OP textured reflector, or putting something on the lens (some people have used Glad Wrap Press-N-Seal), then this is a great light for the price.
I REALLY, REALLY hope that the manufacturers concentrate on improving the beam with better optics or better reflectors or lenses.

Pros: Bright spot, affordable, nice metal housing.

Cons: The spot is very narrow, not very usefull for MTB. It should have a reflector like the magicshine MJ-808E. There isn´t any sealing where the cable comes out from the headlight. There wasn't any thermal past between the star mount and the headlight. There was plenty between the star and the led mount, where the driver is though.

Other: Not worth it for mountain biking. Go for the MJ-808E.

  • Very bright spot, for head torch or bike light

    posted by hoppybounce1 on 16:28:32 G10T 22/10/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This light is a Very Bright spotlight. It is great for geocaching at night and bike riding on the road or in the bush when used with another light that has a broad beam. Really good value, even if purchased with a similar value flood, it would still be half the price of 'other' bike lights that are not as bright.

Cons: As a single beam, the spot is not enough for mountain biking and not as useful as a flood light on its own when compared with other LED bike lights. The low mode and strobe mode are not very useful. Needs single click on/off with high and separate high/medium.

Other: Buy it on it's own and you will not be disappointed. Buy two of them and swap the reflector or add a diffuser lens to one so you get a full spectrum of lighting for mountain biking.
