TrustFire X9 Cree XM-LT6 5-Mode 585-Lumen Memory White LED Flashlight with Battery Set (1x18650)

Pros: Large reflector (54mm) so "throws" well Well built Came with two batteries not one (see note in 'thoughts' below) Nice finish which appears different shades depending on lighting. Lens is 4mm thick so is unlikely to break in a hurry. Squared off threading. Water proof, tested for 1/2 an hour in about 1m of water and not a single drip got inside the torch. Despite what it looks like in the photos (the hole under LED board) the heat sinking is actually fairly good Good balance of flood and throw while still being able to light up 10m tall trees 300m away on a clear night (enough to see where trees are but not make out individual branches). Lastly... it looks good.

Cons: LED is not driven to potential, dependent on the cell used the driver delivers between 1.5 and 2.4A this can be fixed by installing a good driver (which isn't too hard). Allot of the statistics in the user manual are wrong (e.g voltage is stated as up to 7.4V, should be single cell only). As it is (stock) it can not take flat top cells, you will need to solder a blob onto the bottom of the driver to use them and mod the internals of the tailcap (sand down plastic between switch and boot) so it will still take longer protected cells

Other: A well made torch however there are others on this site that I would consider better in curtain fields if you are looking for in particular. It offers very good throw for a single 18650 XML light. Torch is a knock off of a Surefire torch if I remember rightly.

Pros: incredible quality ! the buid quality is simply outsanding ! the flashlight was delivred in a nice cardboard box with a 18650 battery charger , and a pair of 18650 trustfire protected batteries. and a nice lineyard. this flashlight is very bright , but in full power a brand new full 18650 last only for about an hour. there is 3 userfull mode ( full (3AMP) Half (1.5AMP) and low (0.5AMP) and two useless mode (strobe , and SOS) that you have to cycle through to return to full power

Cons: the only con is the 2 useless mode ! the baterry charger is not usable in europe because it does have flat plug , and in france we use the round kind of plug. this can be solved with SKU 3529

Other: i don't regret my purchase. but if it's your first flashlight you might wan't to buy a 10$ one , with 18650 battery they are good too
