Pros: Came to Sweden within 2 weeks. Simple envelope with bubble wrap but light in flawless condition.
Quality control apparently quite good compared to what I read in other reviews here on DX, i.e. clean both inside and outside, no loose parts or bad contacts, good clickie, fully functional straight from the wrap with both alkali and NiMh.
Quite bright but in no way 230 lm, at least not with 1,5v or NiMh. Brighter than my L1Tv1.0 on high but less than the L1D-CE on "turbo" ('07, rated 90 lm).
Good knurling without being too aggressiv.

Cons: LED is not perfectly centered so the beam has a slight shadow on one sight, not enough to be noticed in real life application but disturbing when white-walling. Beam is rather ringy, too.
Light has kind of a short-term memory: it's taking ages for the circuit to reset after you turn off the light. If you don't want to start the light in "strobe" after you turned it off in "low" you have to wait around 8 minutes before turning it on again.
Threads and o-rings were dry, but that's a minor.

Other: I was looking for a cheap back-up 1AA light for rough outdoor use and found a competitiv candidate.
If you don't mind minor irregularities in the beam pattern and can cope with the long circuit reset time this is a good buy for the money.
If you're looking for a 1-mode equivalent I can recommend the Uniquefire S10
(sku.30987) which has equally if not better build quality and is slightly brighter (and my sample has a perfect centered LED with clean symmetric beam, too).

    Pros: - Sturdy Alumunum body
    - O-ring to prevent the water from getting in
    - REALLY BRIGHT!!! I can see up to 30 yards clearly with this light at night.
    - Inexpensive (similar product will cost $70+ for name brands such as sXXXfire, etc.)
    - Easy switch: after turn on, tap the switch softly to quickly switch the mode
    - Simple modes: Max, regular, and flashing
    - Uses AA battery
    - Small

Cons: Can't find any at this point. Will update after more extended use.

Other: Best priced 200+ lumen AA flashlight in the market.

  • Need's a little work, but besides is great

posted by laimoriel on 00:55:15 G9T 24/09/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Main throw is very narrow but spill very wide, that should give it a good range, but be useful also indoors.
    - Beam is very nice, clear, without any artifacts.
    - Color temperature is similar to natural light.
    - Build quality is quite good apart from the driver pill.
    - Power consumption is average, around ~1,5 - 2A in high, 0,5 - 0,8 in low on a Duracell alkaline. Considering the brightness, power efficiency should be quite good.

Cons: - Driver is very, VERY poorly assembled into the driver pill, so it's a MUST to deal with this issue if you want to use it as EDC.
    - At the slightest shake turns out - poor contact between body & driver. It can be easily fixed though.
    - LED is not perfectly centered in reflector, but this can be fixed in minutes.

Other: If you have a little experience with soldering iron and can fix the bad contact issue, this is a VERY nice flashlight.

Pros: nice pocket size, although longer than cr123 torches. Very bright, not too much behind bigger 18650 torches. not too many useless modes.

Cons: beam not that nice, but only visible at whitewall beamshots. I definately prefer textured reflectors.

Other: this has been my favourite everyday pocket light for the summer. During winter time, I prefer a bigger 18650 torch in the pocket of my jacket.

  • very nice flashlight

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: flash light has a strong body, strong light, and excellent power consumption used fresh new battery and more then two hours of use. it is small enough to carry it with you all the time. you can see over 30 meters with this flashlight though i didn't exactly measure its limits relatively cheap compared to local stores where you will buy this at at list twice the price .

Cons: i had some problems with operating at different mods so if you really need fast storbing and and weaker beam take it into account

Other: great product. if u need a simple flashlight buy it.

posted by Fettenbrot on 10:51:33 G1T 15/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Small torch, very usefull, good throw for the size, fits in every pocket, AA batteries, I have two, two modes should be enough, nobody needs the strobe, the neighborhood is very impressed when I´m illuminate the garden

Cons: compared with Fenix LD 20 the throw is longer, but the output is surely lower, much more spill from the Fenix LD 20, in no way 230 lumen

Other: Worth every penny, good for every day carry, the spill is not impressive, but good enough for the most activities, the lightwight torch are usefull for the mountainbike helmet

  • Excellent EDC Torch!

posted by elTinjo on 10:07:46 G2T 09/02/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: STUNNING brightness! The Beam is instantly blinding. The brightest Flashlight I've seen running on a single AA Battery. VERY light and small, but not too small to handle. Excellent build quality. It seems waterproof when tightened well (is it ??) The three modes are perfectly trimmed when you're used to something similar. No use for using rechargeable batteries while equipped with 1AA If you have a fitting holster its the perfect EDC torch! I used to wear WolfExes Sniper (I+II DX6) Q5LED Torch for EDC but now switched to this one.

Cons: Beam is fixfocused pretty tight, it's more of a thrower (see beamshots). Tailswitch is pretty loud. Tailswitch triggers when released, not when pushed. Light in focused area has minimalistic shadows (dont bother!) The memory of operation mode could be shorter (it's 4 or 5 seconds)

Other: BUY IT ! It's amazing. YOU NEED THIS ! :-) I think altogether it's the best torch I own.

  • BEST Flashlight

posted by darkfad on 19:25:25 G2T 18/02/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Made very high quality, good housing, bright LED, O-rings are. The workmanship is confirmed by my tests: 20 minutes he lay included in a saucepan with water. After I took it and made out everything inside dry and the flashlight works fine. The quality is excellent and the price is fully consistent. A huge plus is its food, common AA batteries, but it also supports the batteries 14500, that's fine.

Cons: He has no minuses. Super flashlight.

Other: Very successful model, like many of my friends had ordered more than 10 units and all sorted out now ordered a further five flashlights.

  • It's a buy!

    posted by Gadget2Me on 04:49:35 G3T 25/03/2011 certificated customer

Pros: Compact easily pocketable LED torch with 3 light settings (full power, low power, flash). Water seal looked ok. Single AA battery. Price.

Cons: Obviously straight out of the factory, with a coating of silicone oil that had to be wiped off. Plastic bag wrapped, no real packaging. Not as heavy (sturdy) and finely manufactured (a few minor burrs) as my Fenix (also a single AA unit).

Other: This S-A2 unit is all about value compared to a Fenix that's 6x the price. This one works with no excessive dress up and no more can be asked. Value buy!

Pros: I was mildly surprised with quality compared to the price of the SA2. O-rings in place Threads are well made Materials used was A1! Brightness was closed to advertised on an AA Orange switch was a nice touch Not as power hungry as expected

Cons: Could have gone along with extra o-rings and a holster.

Other: For the price, quality is topnotch. Comparing to a boxer, the SA2 is probably the best pound for pound!
