  • Well built P60 host

Pros: - Bezel is well finished and contrasts well against the black body
    - Finish seems HAIII based on experience with my other HAIII lights.
    - Rubber ring around body stops the clip from scratching the body. I also find that it stops the torch from slipping when clipped to anything.
    - Threads are clean and smooth
    - Glass lens well sealed with bezel fixing it in place. Means that glass doesn't fall out when changing P60 module.
    - Snug fit for TrustFire Protect TR18650 (sku.5776) with no rattle. Battery slides out nicely.
    - Fits either 2 CR123 or 1 18650
    - Significantly better than my UltraFire Alpha C1, which I thought was pretty decent.
    - Able to tail stand
    - Comes with a wrist strap

Cons: - Beam pattern has a slight dark ring around the hot spot.

Other: Brilliant P60 host. R2 module has nice tint and is very bright. I'd buy two for this price.

Pros: Purchased 2 of these as bike lights for the coming winter months.
Fit and finish was acceptable. Head needed a bit of attention to remove swarf and machining burrs. Tail end also needed similar attention, but hey, it was a 5 minute job. Threads were well cut and greased as delivered, but again, I cleaned everything and re-greased. Regardless of what I buy it'll get stripped and re-built!
Tail reverse clickies have a nice action.
Anodising seems hard and passed the coin-scratch test, which may suggest it to be HA-III.
The cookie-cutter bezel fits well and holds the front lens up against the o-ring well. Other o-rings seal out the water well. Not depth tested yet!
R2 drop-in works well. Faultless in one light, other light a minor problem (see cons).
Wrist-strap ok, steel clip and rubber grip pretty good hold to belt and pocket.

Cons: Machining on my 2 lights is slightly different. One light tailstands, one doesn't.
One of the R2 drop-ins developed a flicker, and then completely stopped working. A quick strip down of the pill revealed a double layer driver board, and on further examination a dry solder joint between an smt component and board. A swift wave of the soldering iron remedied this and restored it to eye-blistering brightness. Not really a con since easily fixed, and may occur on any driver board from any manufacturer.
Both drop-ins will switch mode if knocked reasonably hard. Ok with drop-offs of about 1 metre though.

Other: Buy one, or two. Attack Bezel can be used to make cookies. Both lights holding up well at 70+ bicycle miles a week.

    Pros: - HA-III finish
    - clip (although not oriented to please me)
    - It can somewhat tail stand

Cons: - not bright on High with 2x CR123A primaries
    - cannot fully tail stand
    - it gives few fast blinks when you turn it on High
    - clip should be rotated for 180'

Other: Nice average torch. You would be better off with WF-502B even though paint on WF-502B cannot compare to this one.
You need to put something between aluminum crown and lens otherwise lens will get broken on first drop!

Pros: This is a good looking torch that comes with a handy clip and lanyard that are so useful yet so often ignored by manufacturers. The finish on mine is good. The clicky is quite sensitive but can easily be used whilst wearing gloves. The beam intensity options are all good and the general brightness is fair for such a small unit. I have had great runtimes from mine, even at full brightness. I recently had to search a dwelling for a missing person and the throw and spill were just right for the job.

Cons: Could have been brighter - but again, this is a small torch.

Other: This is a good value torch that is one of the most useful in my collection. If you don't want to spend much on a torch that you can clip on a belt and forget until you need it this might be a good option.

  • Reliable flashlight

    posted by Norad2000x on 15:52:36 G10T 18/10/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Blindly bright and decently white light.
Decent spill around surroundings and very tight hotspot to illuminate far objects
Strobe's good for annoying/disorienting. You can stand the light on the assault crown and use strobe as a beacon.
Tailstands easily (at least mine does after I removed the useless wriststrap)
    Good battery life...

Cons: MY CR123 batteries rattled in the casing. Easily fixed by rolling a sheet of paper and using it as a liner within the tubing.
The belt clip is my main gripe. Flipping it around 180° would prevent the assault crown from poking into my sides when worn. It is also relatively easily bendable.
Using the assault crown results in a projection pattern that's rounded triangular. Using the plastic crown results in a slightly round but crowned pattern.

Other: Great flashlight for work, daily use, hiking, etc. Buy two packs of rechargeables and a charger, and you'll probably be set for anything.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very bright even with using LiFEPO4 18650 batteries. The build quality is very good and the coating really does seem to be HA-III as I don't have any scratches on it yet. I've been carrying this with me everywhere I go since having received it. Battery life is also top notch.

Cons: It seems the tail cap clicky has some issues. Sometimes it won't turn on right away. When this happens it feels like a mechanical problem with the clicker (snagging possibly). A couple clicks later and it's fine. The belt clip is situated kind of odd. The doesn't seem to have the same coating, it looks to be painted instead of anodized. One other thing to note, is the threads at the rear were cut fine, but they didn't come to a clean finish towards the end of the threads; easily fixed.

Other: Great value if you want a bright, well built flashlight for relatively inexpensive. I can't wait to see it's max output with CR123's.

  • Great light, great price!

Pros: Appears to be good HAIII finish, others seem to agree. I haven't tried to defeat it, but it looks and feels like the finish on my Fenix L1T.
On that note, the tail switch and battery contacts are also quite nice. Gold plated springs with excellent, solid feel. That said, the click switch could protrude slightly further to make it more ergonomical to use, but not a big deal.
Just barely started playing with it, but obviously a fantastically bright light. It definately has the potention to out do my modified sku1892 and out throw my SSC'd 3D mag (well, that one still uses the stock led module with a ssc in place of the lux3).
Overall, very nice impression, looking forward to using this light a bit (might have to get some rcr123's or 18650's so I can use it as a bike light!).

Cons: Rough spot in the threading on the body tuube for the head, looks like a small section broke away. Easily fixed, but slightly annoying.
Strike bezel rests against glass lens when fully seated.
While quality of materials and components appears to be top-notch, the assembly left something to be desired. Oily finger print on the window, window o-ring askew and the led/reflector module had notable dust on t (easily fixed with a good breath).

Other: First impressions are huge, and this light gives a great first impression. I fully expect it to live up to it.

  • Amazing Light

posted by sammybones on 21:42:53 G11T 20/11/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Tight, focused beam with
    - Snow white color tint
    - Feels solid in the hand,
    - Very solid construction
    - Recessed tail clicky that's easy to press
    - Mode memory works fine

Cons: - The attack crown scrapes the glass lens as you screw the crown in
    - The rubber sleeve that the belt clip rests on isn't very tight and sometimes rolls out of its recess as you stick it on a belt or pocket.

Other: A great way to start (or continue) your addiction to flashlights. This is one that is a great all-around light that will make you feel safe when you're carrying it.

  • I'd sa this is the best ultrafire light so far

    posted by saltyegg167 on 22:45:55 G11T 24/11/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: for those who use 18650 batteries you will get a longer run time with the light but the brightness is not the same with 2 cr123's. although still very bright with 18650 but with 2 fully charged 3/7v battery you almost get twice the brightness and you will use this R2 light to its full potential which is very bright this light seems HAIII i have this light since the summer time and i still havn't have any scratches on it.

Cons: the crown for this light doesn't fit the head very well and if you have it too tight it may damage the lens.

Other: overall I think this is the best ultrafire light you can get because it offers different battery types with good brightness and run time. Also you get 2 different crowns

  • The feeling as strong as tank.

posted by anatTHA on 05:45:04 G12T 13/12/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: The light that can transform to be a emergency impact smash tools. The strong as tank is not the tall tale, much stronger than expected. and also weight is slightly higher than ordinary one.
The machinery is fine for detail. Good design.
The beam is very tight when mounted the crown on.
Rough, tough, and firm feeling belt clip.

Cons: The clicky switch need some adjustment. For a smooth and relivable.
The rubber ring under clip may better if absent.

Other: R2 bright enough, the C1 is strong enough. If you Looking for the tough gear. This is the one.
Once you are in emergency situation such as have to break the car windshield in car accident, it is.
Event you doesn't like a crown. Just replace it by the bundled plastic secure ring. It Still good looking.
