Pros: Nice looking light. Smallest 18650 equipped light that I noticed with an R5. This will be the light I carry after looking for bright multi-mode 14500 lights that might hae been able to get modified to aacept a 17500 cell. Now there is decent size combined with an 18650 powered R5. This is a light i can recommend-though- if you don't mind a bit more size; (see photos) the sku:33548 UniqueFire L2 Cree XPG-R5 5-Mode 320-Lumen is a great light. It weighs 160grams ready versus 100 grams. I was carrying sku:39062 TrustFire R5-A3 Cree XP-E-R5 3-Mode. That one is a quirky little thing but bright and with some fair runtime potential. This P10 will make a mockery of that runtime though. besides the battery capacity there are three nice levels. It has a dark yellow spot in the center of the hotspot. I'm not sure I'll bother to remount the LED to change that. Where it projects a 10 foot wide flood the L2 has about 7. GITD ring at lense lights up quick for good recovery in the dark

Cons: Rollable. I have a tailhook on it or it would roll easily

Other: Great light. I'll be buying and recommending it to/for people.

Pros: The ammount of light is exacly what you pay for, i bought for night biking, and it does de job beautifully, bought 4 18650 batteries, and that's more then enought. it does get hot after 5 minutes, but it is completely berable, and is actually a hand warmer in the right ammount. the bottom glows in the dark, but you have to leave it in a lite room, oderwise in wont "charge" and do it's thing... The build quality is fine, not the best, but much better than i expected, i belive it is in deed waterproof, but i don't want to try it out, certainly water resistent due to the 2 o-rings on each end. the 5 modes is excelent, i really like to have these cool gadgets with full of functions. in some cases, the brightest mode is too much. and for me that go fishing from times to times, it is perfect, if something goes wrong, SOS. The strobe mode might not be strong enought for crowded caotic groups, or an assoult guy. but you have there if you need it. It is in fact XP-G R5 cree led. You canot see a donut, mine is very well even in the spot, and the spill ( area arround the center, is huge) so it's great for night ridindg. I don't know if i'm usedd to the color, but i really dont find it blueish, for me is a very good white... maybe buleish-ish-ish not more than that... my protected betteries fit great...

Cons: couldn't measure the Amperage drawn, but i think is more than 800ma on high other than that, could find any,

Other: i really like it, my friend thought i paid 50 $ on it, i definetly recomend it for others, but i would buy the 22,30$ 500 lumens from trustfire next just to check it out... i would very much like to have 2 lights on my bike... spare.. the bike flashlight mount i bought is just perfect also, love you DX

Pros: Very solidly built flashlight. I've ordered quite a few lights from Deal Extreme over the years, and this one is by far the brightest and best quality. The brightness of this W5 rivals or is better than some of the larger $40 flashlights.

Cons: Battery life is a little short, but the light is ultra-bright. Unfortunately this is a necessary tradeoff.

Other: A great light for the price, the best light I've bought from Deal Extreme.

  • Nice little XPG-R5

Pros: Well, If you are looking at this light, you probably know the XPG-R5 is the most efficient LED light you can buy. Also:
    - Did I mention XPG-R5?
    - One of the smallest 18650 lights around
    - can tail stand very well (lanyard also goes to the side - so it does not make the tailstanding uneven)
    - Glow in the dark clicky and 0-rings
    - all aluminium construction means very light and great for a pocket - weighs only 52g, plus a 49g battery = 100g in the pocket.
    - LED is attached with thermal paste - so can be moved side to side if needed (is held in place by soldered wires and of course reflector when assembled).
    - Reflector appears to be solid Aluminium too
    - effective heatsinking. Heats up quickly on high, but not hot enough to burn or overheat the LED. Quick heating up is due to there being so little material in the torch and Aluminium is a good conductor of heat with a low specific heat capacity (vs say copper).
    - Fits protected 18650 fine.
    - Takes a violent shake to get any battery rattle.

Cons: - Low mode is too bright to read a book by.
    - Slight greenish tint to mine (not a pure white tint as other LED torches I have).
    - battery tube is maybe 2mm wider than it needs to be (not too big an issue though, but every mm counts for and EDC).
    - slight 'doughnut' ring is visible shining against a white wall, but I don't notice it when actually in use in the real world.

Other: Nice little torch, comfortable in a pocket. Not a real thrower or flooder, but halfway in between. Could be improved with a lower low mode, so loses a usefulness star.
For me, close to a prefect EDC host, light, watertight with good build quality.

  • Lightweight, compact and very bright

posted by Hobbyfotograaf on 13:58:48 G11T 11/11/2010 certificated customer

Pros: This is a very compact and lightweigt flashlight, and it is very bright. Only 100 grams with a 18650 battery, the stainless steel Ultrafire c3 with a 14500 inside is just 4 grams lighter. The P10 is larger than the C3, but with a bigger battery it will last much longer (P10-R5 = 114mm x 24,6mm, SS C3-Q5= 93,5mm x 20,5mm). The P10-R5 is also much brighter than the SS C3-Q5. This Ultrafire P10 fits in most pockets, and there are no sharp edges to destroy the inside of your pockets. Good heat transfer to the body, and the led does not get too much power, so it will last very long. (I had problems with a Uniquefire flashlight where the R5 led fell off the star because it was getting far too much current on a freshly charged battery.) Build quality seems ok, with O-rings at the right places to make it water resistant.

Cons: There is only one con, and that is the doughnut ring in the "hotspot". If the beam was better, this would have been a much better flashlight (it woud have been almost perfect, because i can't find another thing that is wrong with this P10-R5).

Other: At this moment, this is my favourite "every day carry" flashlight, it is light, compact, very bright, and the battery lasts for more than two hours on high. With this construction the heat-transfer is much better than with a "drop in module" that is sitting loose in the flashlight tube without any thermal contact. Those flashlights won't last very long because the led gets much too hot.

  • Little R5 Light with good runtime

posted by Cherax on 03:17:06 G1T 06/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -Very bright EDC light with no sharp edges. -Good runtime, because of use 18650 Li-ion´s. -Measurement (with full charged 18650): HIGH=1,20 MID=0,82 LOW=0,31 -Very good beam quality I´m surprised of it, it´s much better, than the beamshots here. NO donut hole!

Cons: -I can hear a high humming, when light is turn on.

Other: I have some little R5 light´s, but this is the best, because it uses 18650 batteries and therefore runtime is much better, than my other R5 light´s.

  • One of the best flashlights I owned

    posted by Fry42 on 09:24:20 G1T 22/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is a very nifty little light! It's small, lightweight and looks great. It produces a decend amount of light for the size and runtimes are great due to the 18650 batteries. I also like the look&feel of it! Much smoother compared to all these show-off designs around.

Cons: The build quality could be a bit better. I.e. the o-rings are rather low quality and got squeezed out of the groove. Just use some silicone oil an you'll be fine... (And maybe order some spares)

Other: I hat two Fenix P3Ds which I exchanged for these. The main reason was the incredible amount of CR123A primaries they used up. Using rechargeable batteries is a lot cheaper in the long run. With lights like these on DX there is no reason to buy extremely expensive Brands like Fenix. I just wish they made a decent headlight like Zebralight!

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very bright light. Clean good looking beam. There is a very large and bright hotspot and great spill. Can be modded easily. Comes apart very easy. Tailstands. The o rings and glass lens add quality. Very good heat sinking, gets warm quickly.

Cons: A black light would be nice. I would like a quiet forward clicky. I hate the strobe and sos.

Other: First Ultrafire I have ever bought. I am very happy with it. I have ordered several different ones since then. Might be the brightest light for this price.

    Cons:

Other: Really impressed with the quality of this unit, it almost made me forgot about the trouble and the time I spent with the defective one I received at first. Really recomended.
