Pros: Simple, bright flashlight using common batteries. Two battery format provides longer runtime than single battery. As bright as my (very bright) 18650 powered light. Excellent build quality on par with my much more expensive light. Popular, well loved size and shape time tested and true. Perfectly centered emitter in deep textured reflector provides a clean beam pattern with a bright spot and plenty of spill. Nice O rings every where they should be including behind the lens provide a good chance of waterproofness and smooth feel while taking the light apart and putting it together. The battery tube comes apart about an inch below the head and you can reattach the tailcap to make a nifty cr2 battery powered light. Simple on off clickie on tailcap is a popular feature and allows for easy one handed operation. Glass lens resists scratching. Machining and coating flawless. The included wrist strap actually fits over your hand!
Cons: A low battery saving mode would be nice. I am not sure the glass lens is tempered. Clickies are not as durable as twist switchs. Did not fit one of brand my nimh batteries. (but did fit all three other brands that I tried). Maybie they could have made the tube a fraction of a millimeter wider.
Other: Simple light using cheap common batteries. Excellent quality, good run time and very bright!

Pros: - brighter than my Ultrafire C3 - good runtime, I measured 2:40h of regulated brightness with sanyo 2700mAh - nice smooth beam without artifacts - led is easily accesible so modding will be no problem. - thermal paste under star
Cons: On every thread is O-ring, but it is not completely waterproof (I tested it in 20cm deep water:-)
Other: In 20$ price range it is one of the best 2xAA lights on DX.

Pros: "Holy $%&*#!!" That's what I said when I first turned on this sucker!... It's also what a friend of mine said when he stared into it, despite my many warnings not to :) . Brightness and throw are simply amazing, especially for a double-AA light! Machining and finish look to be flawless, which is remarkable at this price point. Quasi-"strike" type bezel is a nice styling touch. Battery fit (alkaline AAs) is quite snug (they won't rattle). Rear clicky works very well (no "misses" yet) with just enough firmness (for my tastes at least). Front lens is indeed glass (24.5mm). The lanyard is nice, but I removed it since it won't fit too well in my holster (SKU: 5264).
Cons: Sadly, there are a few notable cons. First, the reflector is most assuredly NOT aluminum: it's plain ol' plastic--a very reflective, hi-quality plastic, but plastic nonetheless. Very fine threading throughout, so be careful not to crossthread when "playing around" with the innards. While there are 4 o-rings present, there are NONE between the front bezel and lens, which means this light cannot even be considered water-resistant (and you can forget about adding an o-ring here, as there isn't enough clearance for it to fit). The metal "puck" (serving as a spacer) betweeen the tail cap and switch is loose, leading to a discernable "rattle" when you shake the flashlight (a glob of thick, inert silicone lube gel in between the cap and puck fixed this). There's no holster included.
Other: A truly remarkable value. Had I paid twice as much for this light, I still would've considered it a bargain (despite its flaws). Makes a great gift for anyone, not just flashoholics.

Pros: + nice beam (tight hotspot, lots of spill, almost no artifacts) + long runtime, good brightness + perfect for alkaline batteries + simple to operate ;)
Cons: - tight battery tube. Eneloops and Sanyo 2100 are fitting nicely, Sanyo 2500 don´t. - construction of switch: don´t disassemble the tailcap unless needed ;)...
Other: Simple, but good light. Perfectly suited for "non-flashaholics" too. I gave already one away as a gift ...

Pros: In 2xAA mode, this light looks positively sexy! :) Light output is impressive... I was quite taken aback the first time I turned it on (this is my first ever CREE light). CREE's, Rebels... LED lighting sure has come a long way. Bright hotspot lights up treetops over a 100 yards away, and there's enough spill to allow for decent lighting at close and medium ranges (negating the need for any Maglite-like focussing mechanism). The machining and finish are impressive for this price point. Pseudo-tactical bezel adds a nice styling touch, and hex-shaped head prevents the light from rolling around when you lie it down on a table.
Cons: O-rings and threads come dry as a bone. If you do lube these (you should), be sure to use a lube gel that's as inert as possible to silicone (petrol-based grease is NOT recommended). The o-ring used to seal the glass lens to the bezel is so far recessed into the inner bezel as to be ineffective. The groove in which this o-rings rests should've been made a little shallower to allow the lens something to "grab" onto when the bezel is tightened. The tail cap setup is REALLY goofy: it's about 3 mm too long, and to make up for that slack (to make the clicky work), a small aluminum "puck" has been thrown in there. Best part is, that puck is loose (you can hear and FEEL it when you shake the flashlight). Thankfully, the replacement tailcaps sold here at DX will easily fit this (after a bit of trimming), and will even transform it into a bonafide tail stander! Aluminum reflector? NOT! It's all plastic, baby. Maybe it was aluminum at some point, and if it was, it's not anymore.
Other: This is probably the best deal going in high performance double-AA flashlights... Way better than other double-AA lights like the C3. No, it's not perfect, but for the price, it's close enough for me. Flashlights make great gifts, and this model is, IMO, a perfect choice for a gift item, given its WOW factor, expensive looks, its single mode (no learning curve), and that it uses easy-to-find AA batteries. Get one... or two... or three... You won't regret it. :)

Pros: as im going to be a police officer in england - we are allowed to use our own torches instead of the standard issue maglite - i chose to buy this for the brighter light
Cons: nothing as of yet
Other: will DEFINUTLY recommend to my fellow colligues
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very bright, simple and easy to use. Very good for e.g. repairing cars, small enough to have around when needed. Not too small. Smooth beam.
Cons: Plastic reflector cup instead of aluminum.
Other: Perfect gift for someone who needs a good flashlight, or just for fun. Excellent quality.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Very nice workmanship, rivals that of a certain very popular incandescent manufacturer. Anodizing is tough and smooth, LED is centered correctly, reverse clickie is firm, and the XR-E is very bright on 2 AAs. Without a lux meter, I would say that it is one of my brightest lights (even compared to some more expensive lights).
Cons: Clickie protrudes, so no tailstanding. Obviously the 2AAs make this a little longer so this is not a good choice for a EDC pocket light (if I could find a holster that would work better)
Other: I never review the lights I buy, but I registered just to say that I highly recommend this one.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: bright heavy and strong, great build quality easy to use, uses 2xAA batteries
Cons: the switch isn't nice, must be pressed fully to be turned on
Other: probably the best 2xAA battery flashlight out, well worth it
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - very bright, nice Beampattern - stunning workmanship - runs 90mins on two eneloops - whole body gets warm (so heatsinking works well)
Cons: none so far
Other: buy it !!!!
