Pros: - High quality finishing and machining like Maglite and other A-brands.
    - No imperfections in the black finish.
    - This is the new model, the updated version of the WF-606.
    - O-rings everywhere, so probably pretty water resistant.
    - Threads are not anodised so good electrical contact.
    - Clicky feels good and really clicks.
    - No weird smell on the rubber clicky.
    - Inside of battery tube is also black anodised.
    - Uses two standard AA batteries which are sold just about everywhere.
    - Rechargeable GP NiMH 2300mAh bateries fit easily.
    - Very bright, do *not* look into the light!
    - No blue tint, true white color beam!
    - Large enough wrist band
    - Reaches very far! I believe this is called "a good thrower".

Cons: Well, i think it's a great product, but if i have to say something about the less perfect things, these would be it:
    - Simple white box packaging, (but i'd rather have a simple package and a low price than a shiny package and a high price). So think about the packaging when buying this as a gift.
    - Too bright when using up close on light colored or white objects, a medium or low mode would be nice.
    - If you softly touch the rear switch when the light is on, it goes off real fast (until you release it). But still better that the other way around (on then you touch it softly).
    - Only the rear thread seemed to be lubed, others needed a little sillicone spray to turn smoother and easier. (Apply the sillicone spray to a soft cloth first, then rub it onto the rubber rings and the threads. The threading itself is good though.
    - Addictive! ;)

Other: Throw away your old Maglites and get yourself one of these! You won't be disappointed by the quality, it's a real good product.
    Highly recommended!

    Pros: -It´s compact size
    -has 1 mode, not 20
-Every part which you can twist/screw away has O-ring.
    -comes with good wristband
    -The Power and throw
    -Use AA-batteries

Cons: Can´t find any yet maybe it doesn´t have?

Other: Even the P4 version is more powerfull than maglite 3W led lights.
    But this Q5 totally owns!
I send a picture don´t know if it comes here so this is link for it: http://www.aijaa.com/img/b/00662/2632755.jpg
There is picture of beamshot left one is P4 version with little aspherical lens and right one is this Q5 version.
    There is difference.

  • Very impressive little light

posted by mrbill on 11:49:11 G9T 01/09/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is my first LED flashlight and i'm quite impressed. It is small enough to be compact, but still fits nicely in the hand (with the AA battery extension). I am using NiMH AA batteries.
This light is very very bright. I'm not used to such bright white light (but i'm sure I will!)
Clicky at the bottom works well, and the threads unscrew very smoothly and nicely. There appear to be rubber O-rings at each point - so fairly weatherproof.

Cons: None really - this is a really nice light. Perhaps it would be nice to have a more robust clicky.

Other: Buy one - you will not regret it. If you just want one flashlight - this is the one to get.

  • Nice light, bright with more flood than most

posted by EdFromOhio on 10:48:16 G9T 09/09/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: * Very affordable.
    * About the same brightness as my much more expensive Fenix P2D Premium.
    * Nice, solid body.
    * Would be great as a bicycle light.

Cons: * Not as polished as the Fenix.
    * The power switch is a little too touchy - easy to bump since it's not recessed.

Other: It's a great light for the price. Very comparable output to the Fenix 180 lumen models.
The light pattern is less focused than many of the other lights I have, which I view as good. It has a decent amount of flood. This would make a good bicycle light, especially if used in conjunction with a more focused light of comparable or higher output.

Pros: The light looks really nice! Looks like it's a good quality light. It is nicely paintet black. Nok shiny black like the 9-led sku.1255, but "none light reflecting" black :o)
    The switch works very fine.
The handwrist "string" (not pictured) is 13 cm long with a diameter of 9 cm, and easily fits the hand.
The end unscrews very nice, fitted with a goldplated spring to hold the batteries. It's made of fairly thick material - again good material. Makes extremely bright white light. Keeps looking into it :o) (don't do that) The 9-led spreads out more and cannot be compaired with this light. In bright daylight you can see the light on a wall 5 meters away, like a surefire.

Cons: Could be cheaper, but I guess quality costs.

Other: All in all a very good buy. You wont be disappointed with this one!
Perhaps I would buy the sku.13974 instead but I doubt that it is the same quality.

  • "2xAA thrower"!

posted by CathastrophiX on 12:56:29 G9T 10/09/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very bright for a 2AA light, perfectly white beam.
A M@glite barely glows compared to this one.
    Much brighter than RC-P3.
    Good throw and powerfull spill.
    Good machining, feels solid.
    Large capacity ni-mh fits easily.
    Nice finish, silky black.
Threads are very good and clean, only rear ones lubed.
Rear clicky (reverse operating) feels distinct.
    Glass lens.
Driver and led in one unit, easily removed.
"Solder blob" for extra protection from "battery wear"
Useful lanyard, made for "normal hands" ;-)
In "CR2 mode" it's about the size of a Tippex bottle.

Cons: Led not perfectly centered on mine.
Too bright for close up use.

    Other: Glad I bought it!

  • Impressive Flashlight

posted by csshih on 17:37:58 G9T 11/09/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: - Extremely Bright
    - Well built
    - Rubber O-rings on every part
    - Disassembles into many parts
    - LED lens appears to be glass
    - LED module screws out

Cons: - Tailcap button is too sensitive when flashlight is on, touch it and the flashlight goes off untilyou stop touching it, it then goes back on
    - flashlight body some paint/anodization worn off

Other: This is a very sturdy, well built flashlight.
I would recommend it to anyone that is in the market for extremely bright flashlights.

  • Awesome Flashlight!

    posted by AJD23 on 19:46:41 G9T 20/09/2008 certificated customer

Pros: This is my first flashlight, and I am definitely pleased. Decent price, it's extremely bright and covers a long distance. It's even brighter than my Maglite that boasts 5 D-sized batteries. Build-quality feels solid, nice finish, and love the look of the bezel. Works great on my AA rechargeable batteries.

Cons: Only gripe is the clicky. When fully-depressed it just feels off.

Other: Definitely a great flashlight to own. I would recommend it to anyone who plans to start their flashlight collection.

  • Awesome power packed light

posted by duckyyy on 01:35:10 G9T 22/09/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: First cree flashlight, and its awesome, it literally destroys my other 3 watt led flashlight. This cree emitter is just crazy. bought it to use for my place off campus, as I park in the Forrest and have to walk to the house, its pitch black, but this lights up everything, my mag lights do not even compare. even the huge d battery one. This baby has good spill and a good throw, unlike my other one which was just a focused thrower. You can see the beam in the sky at night.

Cons: Its kinda expensive for a flashlight, I dont remember spending twenty something on a flashlight, maybe the big mag light but I dont remember the exact price.
hard to use up close as it so powerful, in these cases point it a bit away and use the spill light to do things like reading.
lens cap threads were not oiled, but back switch was.
You cannot tail stand with this as switch protrudes as well as the lanyard.

Other: really good, get it. some have complained that switch was sensitive to turning off when light is on. a sensitive switch like this is useful when manually signally by light with Morse code as you do not need to fully depress it to turn light off.

  • Good product but sould upgrade the switch

posted by Nietzscheen on 10:18:19 G9T 23/09/2008 certificated customer

Pros: The flashlight is powerful: Much more power full then my old maglight and my pelican tracker (8 lumens!!!). Also beat my Streamlight jr. Luxeon (Luxeon 1W) with a really good margin. It offers a much better source then my normal LED flashlight.

Could run on CR2 Lithium battery: They are simple to find and inexpensive – sold for a buck – near where I live. These batteries are small and could last for several years on a shelf. Make a really good backup solution in case of power lost.

I like the fact it could run on two AA as they are simple to find. It is also great that it work with normal rechargeable as it is excellent for normal use.
I really like the way they made the head. The hexagonal shape make it not roll on a table. The crown also tells if it is on or off if you put head down.

    NO MORE EXPENSIVE BULB!!!

Cons: None for that price range except the switch could be upgraded to a more sturdy build.

Other: It is a really good product for the price.
