Cons: Need to find the driver on the Internet. No driver CD included.

Other: I brought this just consider as a tech toy and for emergency use only. Buy it if you got the additional money to spend.

Pros: Small and easy to use. Hey it's a NIC. Working on XP and W2000.

Cons: Not the best price if you compare it with other solutions.

Other: Works fine and it's small. A good nic replacement. With better price 5 stars.

  • Nice item but no OS X support

    posted by Moto7451 on 01:12:38 G12T 19/12/2007 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Works with Windows, Linux, but not OS X. Does what it's supposed to. 10baseT is good enough for internet access and troubleshooting bad NICs and other network problems

Cons: No OS X support. This adapter uses the Davicom 9601 chipset which doesn't have an OS X driver.

Other: Good product, just was hoping for OS X support.

  • works fine

    posted by wag_grz on 19:15:36 G5T 07/05/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: - It's USB2.0 And USB1.x compatible
    - Just plug and use
    - Works fine in Linux and Freebsd/Openbsd (unix-like operational systems)
    - A good price in my opinion

Cons: - Driver need for Windows
    - It's not extensible
    - It's USB2.0 but works at USB1.x speed

Other: I couldn't get support for my built-in ethernet card in my laptop, I solved my problem with this USB ethernet adapter, i'm very happy, now I can use internet in my favorite O.S.

  • USB LAN DEVICE YAY!

posted by israel on 04:00:10 G5T 22/05/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Brilliant idea, LAN via USB, who would have thought?? When I saw such a thing existed I ordered it right away.
I thought it would be a great addition to my PC repairing kit.
I wouldn't use it as a fixed device for regular use, I think it's best to use this only for testing purposes (for example, seeing whether the LAN device in the PC is bad)

Cons: The device works at USB 1 speed, also it requires the drivers in order to work, which is a shame.

Other: Cool device, pretty useful, I recommend it!

  • Very useful

posted by Ulver on 19:28:15 G1T 22/01/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very well built. - Nice red LED. - Works like a charm with both 10mb and 100 mbs. - Nice BLUE translucid color, makes it very beautiful. - Used to put my xbox 360 online and it's perfect! No lag at all, providing me my full 2mb's connection.

Cons: - Doesn't have a manual - The cardboard paper that came in is hard to open. - Hard to install, i mean, i couldn't set thip up in the first time, i had to go to google and look for how to install it.

Other: Very good price for such a useful gadget. You should get one right now if you have your network board already occupied with other stuff like you router or adsl modem. I use in my xbox and my laptop and it works really really well.

  • Nice for testing

posted by earlzero on 05:47:45 G2T 03/02/2010 certificated customer

Pros: Dongle is very useful for testing network connections. With hub it can be used to build home-made router from linux box. It can be plugged to laptop (in cases when internal card is failed).

Cons: The biggest lack that it's need driver on CD. Otherwise it'd be perfect for testing network problems

Other: After all i recommend it for building home router or testing networks. Also would be useful for owners of laptops with broken nics.

  • Didn`t like it

posted by Nakasono on 16:37:22 G9T 24/09/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: i used to plug my laptop to my desktop so i could use the internet, it kind of worked...

Cons: the drivers cd was a mess (had a lot of drivers for others dispositives and i just had to install all to find out what was the correct one). if the cable unplugs, plugging again will not reestabilish the conection. You`ll have to configure the conection all again so you can use it (this was the major problem for me),first i had no problem with it, but this "configure all again" thing started to piss me off until i bought a router here on DX. Now my problems are solved and this little blue thing is somewhere in my house (i`m keeping it just for an emergency), but i keep having this feeling that would be so pleasure to throw this off my window(i live at 8th floor), just for what i passed through reconfiguring the conection.

Other: Maybe this product is good for other uses.. for me it wasn`t. now i can only think that this is good to throw at the wall an be happy.

  • Working perfectly!

posted by ocsic on 02:16:40 G10T 24/10/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very good build quality.
    - It has a Red LED indicator for communication.
    - Works like in description with both 10 Mb and 100 Mb speed.
    - Cool blue trans-lucid color, makes it very beautiful

Cons: I bought 3x but it came with 2 driver CD, one was missing from the package.
I noticed that the adapter are overheating to fast when using it.
You must to install a device driver because it is not a standard chipset "Supereal SR9600".

Other: Good little adapter, working like a charm, recommend to everyone!
