What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It works as USB 3.0 I/F through the express 34 interface. It is able to power USB flash drive and 1.8" USB 2.0 poertable HDD but unable to power a 2.5" poerable USB 3.0 HDD
Cons: It cannot power a 2.5" potable USB 3.0 HDD even with the extra power inserted via additional cable - the HDD must be provided with its own power supply.
Window 7 cannot install the driver usinh Windows ute" and manual driver installation is required.
Other: Not very usefull for general every day usage - might be useful for experimants with USB 3.0
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It fits well into the MBP's Expresscard slot it works with Mac it is cheap it does it's job well - USB 3.0 functionality on MacBook Pro 17"
Cons: No Mac driver included a little bit hard to put in right, but when you do, its easy could be a little bit better build quality (but it is solid enough) it only works with Lacie's products, since you have to download the driver from them (as far as I know) - until someone releases a free "unlocked" driver
Other: Does its job very well, but it would have been nice if it supported other drives than Lacie's.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: price, it works without doing anything with Ubuntu 11.04, but you have to boot with the card connected to be launched by the system.
Cons: none
Other: At first I thought the linux kernel did not support the card since the hot-pluggable, but after a reboot with it connected to the system recognized the device was connected perfectly.
I managed 36MB/seg rates with an external hard drive, which is a rate higher than USB 2.0
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It's USB 3.0; and 2 ports even!
Drivers work on most 32 and 64 bit windows; XP and later, including server 2008 and 2003.
Cons: Expensive
Needs drivers from CD ROM
Not recognized by Windows XP update
Somewhat flimsy built! I could bend the aluminum casing with my nail.
For powering an external USB3.0 HD, it requires more power (has USB to DC cable adaptor included).
It can power external USB 2.0 2.5" hard drives over USB.
Drivers will NOT work on Windows before Win 98, Me, NT, DOS, Linux, UNIX, BeOS, MacOS, and OS/2.
Other: Pretty fast!
Under XP a nice speed boost over standard USB2.0 ports. Quite often USB flash drives have been equipped with faster controllers than the USB bandwidth would handle. The readout of the USB2.0 drive was 14/14 MB/s on a USB2.0 port, partly because it's sharing the port with other USB devices, and partly because the USB2.0 port hub controllers aren't as fast as these USB3.0 running on USB 2.0 speeds!
In other words, it's a speed boost of a few MB/s, and for USB 3 devices, definitely worth it!
