USB Digital Thermometer Dongle (Software Displays Temperature)

Pros: Accurate reading in Celsius. Driver easily installed.

Cons: Installation for software is not in English. Fahrenheit reading is very inaccurate so you have to do the conversion yourself.

Other: Pretty much just a digital, on screen Celsius thermometer.

Pros: -Bundled with 1m cable to keep the temperature reader away from warm computer parts. -Google for "temper usb dll" and you can download a dll to use with your own .net vb / c applications. -Very well priced, wish there was a ethernet version

Cons: -Software bundled is poor, it disappoints cosmetically and functionally
-Cannot be used as a permanent outdoor device

Other: Excellent usb temperature sensor. No competitors at this price. Software provided is a disappointment.

Pros: - Works fine (Funciona bien).
- Driver easy to install (Driver facil de instalar).
- Some web sites have programs and sample code for use with it. (Algunos sitios web tienen programas y codigo de ejemplo para este termometro)

Cons: The CD only supplies drivers and windows software.

Other: A cheap USB thermometer, try it, does the job.

Pros: Nice compact digital usb thermometer. Works fine, we've been using it 24/7 here at the office for several months in order to control temperature. No problems at the moment.

Cons: The software included is crap, better use alternative ones (see Other Thougths).

Other: Nice thermometer for the price. Buy it if you are on this kind of stuff.

Pros: Very, very simple use. Only need put and install software that suport ºC and ºF. Software made in .NET framework, withnout any proctection.

Cons: Bad Linux support. Only Windows. Linux support is only by linux-neerds, now need some changes in kernel. Not is a beautiful acessory.

Other: Simple but very useful.

Pros: - Cheap and does the job
- Works like a charm on Windows XP

Cons: No Windows Vista 64bit driver (nor Linux) support
The included software is abit ugly-looking, but I'm going to try to code my own reader software so no biggie. I might take a look at the alternative software mentioned in one of the other reviews too.

Other: Worth the money, just too bad about no Windows Vista64 drivers.

Pros: - It is the smallest and cheapest device you can get for this function.
- Fitted for most projects involving temperature monitoring, like rooms or furniture with cluttered devices.
- With proper applications, you can access the data remotely (i.e., webpage) and get alerts by mail.
- It is possible to develop your own software for reading temp.

Cons: - The package delivered is slightly different from the one in DX, green background, no software, and no cable. This is not critical for me because the device is OK.
- Do not trust completely on the readings. Remember, it is not intended to be a high-precision thermometer, is just to have a clue. Expect some distortion depending on where do you install the device (how close it is from warm/cool sources).

Other: I tried it on Windows 7 RC1 without problems, so it should be supported for most 32 bit OSes.

Pros: It is very handy and accurate.
Its software can send you mails, alerts, save to text files periodically.
Its software can handle multiple sensors, it can even show their avarage.
It works w/ W7.
You can use it outside also (I dont think its waterproof, but it can handle cold and warm).

Cons: None yet.

Other: I use this stuff for my home automation equipment and it is very useful.

Pros: * worked first time under Windows * USB extension cable included * Fahrenheit or Celsius * small * open source code available (C# language) * can drive a web page - check your house temperature over the net * inexpensive

Cons: * this model has no humidity sensor * supplied software is poor (but you don't need it)

Other: * the free software is what really makes this shine * one of the most useful items I've bought from DX
