Pros: This was purchased due to small size and "rechargeable" indicating it could be used standalone.
The device does a great job and holds tracks, speed and position data when disconnected from power source. As noted it stops logging without power.
Once satellite seen the green LED starts flashing. Supplied software was simple to install (windows XP & Windows 7) and gave useful results. Tracks can be saved on computer and device tracking behavior easily set with same software.
Cons: Not rechargeable .. it will not log without external power.
Satellite signals take a while to acquire first time (up to 30 + minutes) and if powered on in a new location some distance from when last used.
This behavior seems however to be consistent with most gps devices so not unexpected.
Other: This does 90% of what I was looking for. Standalone operation would have been nice but have to admit I would have been surprised if that possible in such a small sized unit. External battery options will give me that function. Best value for money for this size and function

Pros: Locks onto a GPS signal fast - like within 15 seconds. Compact design. Can store enough points to track this for days. Software works well and shows your route quickly.
Cons: Requires a lot of juice for long-term tracking. I had this connected to a 4*AA Soshine USB battery pack (sold here) with very fresh batteries, and they were dead 5 hours later. Not waterproof. Does require somewhat clear access to the sky to work, but I've had it in a door pad and behind a car fascia and it still worked most of the time.
Other: Great for logging a route or keeping an eye on something for a day or two. It requires something with a higher mAh than 4*AA batteries for anything over 4-5 hours. If you're putting this in a car, do yourself a favor and get a 12 volt USB adapter to tie it in to the car's wiring or cigarette lighter.

Pros: very small, light (22g) unit. Quite easy to use after reading instructions. Software suplied is erally easy to use and has a lot of functions, speed and altitude graphs, track editing function etc.. easy to export to google earth and so on.
Tracking can be triggered by required speed, moved distance or time interval, all can be set through the software supplied.
Cons: Does not have a power supply. it needs 5v dc. same as from usb port from Your computer. To make it mobile I use SKU 35497 ((http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-aa-powered-usb-emergency-battery-charger-with-flashlight-function-for-all-ipod-iphone-2g-3g-35497))
You can connect it directly and go where You want.
Other: cheap toy to measure your cars true speed, to make some tracking, measuredistance. as it is small You can use it on your RC car or plane! measure its max or average speed. you name it!

Pros: Easy to set up and configure. Quick to acquire GPS location after initial cold start as expected. Software supplied is easy to use. Build quality is good and come with USB extension cable so unit can be easily positioned for best GPS signal
Cons: The software supplied uses the old Google maps API which is no longer in use so Maps do not load properly. Downloaded an updated version of the software from developer website (http://www.itravel-tech.com/) corrects this issue.
Other: Good value for money once initial software issues resolved.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Great unit that does as it says it does. Providing the car adaptor and extension cable is good also. Software was easy to set up in windows, and configuring the sampling time of the unit was easy. I did not have to read the manual for any of that.
Cons: Struggling a bit with the mapping part of software, but that could just be me. The dongle is fairly small, so take care not to misplace it when it's not in use. Come to think of it, where did I put it? ;-)
Other: Buy this if you need a logger for car or walking.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Small and lightweight GPS logger and mouse, with internal memory. Tested with iGo for PC, Navitel (emulation), Google maps (via Franson GPS gate). Works everywhere in the car, not only near the windshield. Car power supply has fuse, well soldered, and based on MC34063. Works standalone with USB mobile power supply on bike. Has different modes for car, bike, ski etc.
Cons: GpsPhotoTagger software not working and needs to be updated.
Other: Bought two units as a gift. All friends are very satisfied. Device can easily be disassembled to use directly with micro controller or so.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: GPS is as described. Records waypoint whenever 5 volts applied. Software will display nema data etc. Quick to lock.
Cons: None
Other: Get one of these. Be careful of the cheap one. I brought one but it didn't have any memory so couldn't save waypoints.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: -Its small, can fit in your pocket -Its accurate, it picks up GPS signal verry fast and it can even track on which side of the road you are driving. -The software included was the latest version, no update was required. -Doesn't need much power. It can track for days with a 2000 mAh battery.
Cons: -No internal power source -Playback function in the software is too fast. -When powering on, it tracks some invalid coördinates. You can correct this with the software.
Other: Cheap and it does what it's supposed to do. If you need a GPS tracker and don't want to spend a lot of money this is the one you should buy.
