Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Cheap Works after installing drivers Extra light goes on when programming or reading Short circuit protection by clear plastic cover All are ports labeled Long cable
Cons: No drivers included No manual included No programming software included or name given
Other: When drivers and programming software have been obtained from outside source the programmer is very low cost but perfectly working
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Best price for an USB AVR programmer, or at least near as makes no difference. Identifies as 16c0:05dc like it should. Solid enough build, connectors and transparent sock.
Cons: No documentation, datasheets, schematics etc. Only 10-pin cable included.
Other: Very reasonably priced programmer for AVR SPI ISP (AVR and S51) programmable chips. Use as you would an USBasp.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works. You get a ribbon cable too. Is nicely built. Has the standard pinout on the 10pin programmer connector. If you want to start with avr microcontroller, this is a cheap and simple way to start.
Cons: Is not supported by avr studio. Also I have yet to figure out the jumpers. There is one jumper you have to remove to enable using as a programmer.
Other: If you need a cheap simple programmer, this is the way to go.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Nice and cheap implementation of USBasp as described at http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ Very easy hackable with fairly large components and plenty of space for prototyping in case you want to use it for something completely different.
Cons: Comes with old firmware (but easily upgradable). RX/TX is not routed (but an easy hack to do so). Headers for J1 and J4 are missing, J1 is needed for firmware upgrade.
Other: Excellent buy. Order ast least two and some .1" pitch headers while you are at it.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Uses usbasp firmware, so just need to install the drivers. Worked on Win7 x64 and Linux 12.04 (tested). Comes with flat cable and have a jumper to send power to the target device from the USB.
Cons: Drivers need to be downloaded (http://www.fischl.de/usbasp). Could not find the documentation or schematic for this programmer, so there is no easy way to update the firmware. You should have a USB port near the target, which is complicated for a desktop pc, but ok for a notebook.
Other: It is a clone, but well built and seems reliable. Worth the money!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Solid and sturdy. Clean solder joints. Comes with clear shrink tubing over pcb, and footlong-or-so ribbon cable with 10-pin connector on each end.
Cons: None so far. It seems to do exactly what it is advertised to do. One wish, though. My original unit (from a different vendor) came with holes where you could solder pins to the unit and plug it in directly to a solderless breadboard, thus bypassing the need for the cable. This one only has the cable option. Not a big deal, though since you can easily make an adapter.
Other: I already owned one of these from a different vendor. It's been beaten up quite a bit (USB connecter wearing out and getting loose) so I wanted a replacement before my original one died. Very happy with this unit.

Pros: It has very good quality, better than expected for this price. Come inside a transparent shrink tube so there is no danger of short circuit. Very useful for my Arduino projects.
Cons: I can´t find any cons for these product since it does it´s jobs.
Other: good solder quality, has labels on silk mask so you can´t confuse about pins.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It is very good built and has a transparent cover to protect from short-circuit and other damages. Drivers are downloaded auto in Win7 and as soft i use eXtreme Burner- AVR. It has a long ribbon cable that can be detach if you want to use in different ways.
Cons: You don't have any instructions drivers or software, but for a hobbyst that's not an obstacle.
Other: It is a very good product.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: well packed - foam and ESD protection bag. Works out of the box. It has old USBASP software inside, but can be programmed with new one. Just short circuit J1 on the board and connect it to other programmer - then you can upload new firmware to it. J4 should work for lower ISP clock selection. J2 is to connect power between USB and ISP - to power target if necessary. If you flash it with AVRDOPER firmware ( build for USBASP hardware ) then J4 works for selection between COM port emulator and HID device mode.
Cons: Jumpers are not in 2,54*2,54 rastnest, so you have to solder three ( or just two, since one is already on pcb ) independend jumpers.
Other: Wel done and working, good package. I will buy more if needed.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Small device connecting directly in the USB port. It also include the cable to connect to your device. In win7/8 I installed the USBasp driver and it works very well.
Cons: Driver from USBasp is not signed and is harder to make it working in Windows 8
Other: Good product for the price.
