Pros: Great for get rid of USB 10 meters barrier.Only need this an UTP cat 5 with rj45 standart.

Cons: Works only as USB 1.0,device are detected as a USB 1.0. Anyway is enought if you want to extend a keywoard and mouse. Need to be conected to computer , cant use it on a USB Hub.

Other: It does it work , and is really cheap. Its a peety that issue with the usb 2.0. Spect to find a new versión with that fixed.

Pros: Worked Perfectly without any problems. I'm running the Cat5e cable to route my wireless 54g USB drives so I can get better reception by getting it closer to the wireless source.

Cons: Only operates at USB 1.0 speeds. Cheap build quality, but price says it all.

Other: Will recommend to anyone who needs to increase their USB wireless device's distance. Ordering more for family and friends.

Pros: Perfect for this price. Cheap solution for big problems. Only connect and work. The inner circuit its only a impedance adaptor and current drive. No software, no problems.
Perfecto por este precio. Una solución barata para grandes problemas con largos cables USB. El circuito interno es solo un adaptador de impedancias y un bucle de corriente. No hay software, no hay problemas

Cons: Other users says the same: NOT USB 2. I dont understand why the inner circuit is not enough to bring USB 2 velocity... With a class 6 ethernet cable it must to be quick enough.
Otros usuarios ya lo dicen: NO es USB 2. No entiendo porque el circuito interno no puede dar esa velocidad con un cable de red categoria 6.

Other: If the problem its no velocity loss buy it

  • Works as advertised - you just need more power

posted by Dobesov on 10:14:20 G3T 21/03/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This device re-pins usb to cat5 so that you can essentially use a long USB cable. It works, but as many people have said it dumbs down the USB speed to version 1 which makes it utterly useless for anything but keyboards and mice. However I did a little thinking ad realized to issue is most likely one of signal strength over distance. Buy a strong Powered USB HUB and use it before the extender and it works like a charm!

Cons: Product does not inform you of the need for a more powerful usb port or hub. Most people will think this product does not work as advertised and it really doesn't. Its not the adapter's fault its doing all it can do you just need an extra Item to get usb 2.0 speeds and that should be more clear on documentation!

Other: Buy a good powered USB hub and this works at USB 2.0 speeds!

  • What a clever idea!

Pros: This is a really nice to have, for all the times your printer is just a bit too far. In my case, I wanted to connect the usb connection of my tv to a usb dock I have in a cupboard on the other side of the room. USB cables at this length (15m) are expensive and not that good (if you can find one) this works perfect!

Cons: Can't think of any, just works

Other: If you need to extend a usb cable over more than 4 meters, this is your product. Cat5 is cheap and can go a long way, without compromising quality. The device is powered through usb, so no additional power supply is needed. an absolute must have!

  • Great USB extender

posted by sYBtyumen on 01:11:31 G7T 26/07/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Really allows to place USB device far from your computer. Used it to put multumedia remote controller's (SKU 44186) sensor on top of my TV. 15m UTP cable - no problems.

Cons: May be some problem to find UTP cable with desired length. Patch cords in computer stores are not very long (longest i saw was 15 meters). Ask in the store, in many cases they will make and test the cable of the length you want in 5-10 minutes. Beware of cheap 2-pair UTP cables. This device does not work with them. Use only full 4-pair UTP cables.

Other: Very useful device. You will not find any native USB cables of such length for the price of the device and UTP cord needed.

  • Great USB 1.1 extender

posted by CanadaCG on 14:28:53 G12T 08/12/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very inexpensive way to extend a USB cable over long distances. "Plug and Play" - you don't have to install drivers or anything - "it just works". Reliable and well-built.

Cons: Only USB 1.1 speeds - there is no support for USB 2 so will cause a Windows station to give the "slow USB" message when something is connected.

Other: If your connected device does not require USB 2 then these are the way to go if you have a long USB run that has to be done. Reliable and connects without hassle, drivers, or problems. A very useful device. And at 1/2 the price of the ones we can get in Canada!

Pros: I need this gadget for my office to connect USB printer/copier/fax to my computer. Its work well but only USB1.1 standard. I try it with 41m UTP cooper cable and work fine. Now it work with 12m UTP and i don't have communication problems.

Cons: Its not USB 2.0 but only USB1.1

Other: I recommend it because the price. I tried it with WI Fi , USB flash drive, mobile phones and bluetooth.

Pros: I used this adapter to connect a external WiFi adapter to improve signal reception. It's cheaper than getting a new WiFi range extender. It claims it can be used with CAT5 cable for up to 100 mts, but i used about 30 meters and worked as expected.

Cons: I found none, worked fine for the purpose i bought it for.

Other: Simple solution with a good price.

Pros: Good quality adapters. Work without any problems. Support USB2.0 via UTP 5 cat.

    Cons: Maybe little expencive

Other: At first, now I haven't limitations for the place of my MFU at house. Earlier I use USB cable with signal amplifiers/repeaters, but maximum distance with it was only 5 m. I cant use my router for this function because router will do print server. Print-server - it only printer, not scanner. With USB-over-RJ45 USB 2.0 Power Boosted Extension Adapters I have fully functional MFU in another room - in a distance over 15m.
