USB SiRF Star III 20-Channel GPS Receiver Set for PC and Laptops

Pros: This is fully sealed and has a strong magnetic base. Fast at lock on statelites even from cold. Low power consumption as it has a battery built into the device. The size is about as big as a matchbox. One of the main reasons that I purchased this over a Globalsat is the length od the cord is longer.

Cons: Driver disc is a bit confusing as the labels on the PDFs are a little vague. Price could be cheaper or closer to the Globalsat BU353

Pros: 1) Real Holux 2) More compact than the Globalsat BU-353 3) sealed better than the BU-353 (I found with by GlobalSat that the way the top and bottom pieces were screwed on was not ideal) 4) nice 'new item' smell

Cons: 1) black & dark blue colour means it will cook in the sun. White or another light colour to would be preferable to keep the temperatures controlled since it's not uncommon for these devices to be exposed to sunlight. 2) Weaker magnet than the the Globalsat BU-353 but still strong enough

Other: This is a reliable product that turns your computer into a GPS-aware device. Combined with one of the several GPS software packages out there that make use of location info, it does what it's supposed to do. It's a pleasure to use this product and I recommend it to all that need GPS on their computers and have a spare USB port for the task.

Pros: Made by one of the names in the field this is a well designed product which works out of the box. Go to the holux.com site and download the right drivers before installing. The same site also has the complete users manual. Works well with OziExplorer software. For testing the utility package from the Houlx site gives you lat/long etc.
The packaging is solid and has a good professional feel.

Cons: None really, it just works, as a well designed product should.
