What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Easily adds extra serial ports to your PC
Cons: The box mentions it glows; of the eight we've bought so far, none seem to. We didn't buy it to glow, though...
Other: An excellent and cheap addition to your laptop bag if you're in networking. This one has a detachable USB cable, meaning it takes less room than SKU 2537
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Seemed to work with my prolific drivers, from another USB to serial adapter I bought long ago... for more money than what it cost me to buy 3 of these. Price is more than right. I plugged one in and it recognized right away... didn't even see the adding new hardware! Used AXIDE and communicated with a microcontroller just fine.
Cons: None.
Other: Buy one. Really cheap. It works, can't beat that.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works like a charm. In Windows XP the driver cd is required, on Ubuntu linux it works straight away.
Cons: The blue colour does not fit with my laptop :)
Other: For legacy device support this is a must.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This works perfectly. I use it to add a serial port to my G4 Mac Mini. I have included a link to a driver below.
Cons: I only slightly wish it came with an OSX driver cd, or a url to an appropriate driver.
Other: This works exactly as expected. It is the cheapest one, yet it still works perfectly. Luckily, there aren't flashing lights.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Useful I can now use my laptop for all my serial rs232 needs.
Cons: screws that you can screw into the rs232 part are very tight.
Other: It works not much else to say. :)
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Great for connecting older devices to newer machines that don't have RS232 ports. In particular I doubt any laptops made these days will have one.
Cons: None
Other: If you have any serial devices, this is for you
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Does everything it should do.
Cons: I'd like to see some informative LEDs on this device. But not necessary :)
Other: Best price, never seen cheaper.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Works flawlessly once the proper drivers are installed.
Cons: None that I can think of right now...
Other: Like the people above me are saying; this is a must have for people who work with legacy devices !
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: This is the most inexpensive USB to serial device I've found anywhere, and it performs quite well. It not only works in Windows XP, but in Linux as well.
Cons: The only reason I rated "build quality" a 4 is because the thumb screws fall out of the connector, making them easy to lose.
Other: I can recommend this product.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: It works in W2000 an XP. Uses Prolific drivers. Small.
Cons: The screws can be easily lost.
Other: Small, easy to use and it works. What can I say?.
