Wilderness Survival Fire Sparkle and Blade Cutter Tool

Pros: It is here! I have been looking for a reasonably priced fire steel for a long time, and this one is great. Don't expect it to light a log on fire...it's just for starting a fire by lighting dried out materials such as dry moss, grass etc and if you really want start the fire with tissues. It seems to be made of magnesium and makes a lot of sparks and a good amount of smoke after a strike.

Cons: None, I think this is one of the best items dealextreme offers.

Other: Amazing item and perfect for the avid survivalist - buy one now and I hope this review helps as it is the first.

Pros: Feels Sturdy (not too cheap looking)
Makes decent amount of sparks
That "I'm a boy scout now :) feel" (I think that's a pro?)
Much cheaper than the FireSteel for those of us that just want to mess around a bit

Cons: None that I can really think of the blade on the knife could be a little longer but its not much of an issue

Other: Get it, if you get bored of it you can give it to your friends that go camping

Pros: Great for camping and survival, build and quality of item is much better than expected. It is just as good as one I bought from a camping shop. Gives a good ammount of sparks and lights cotton wool or toilet paper easily. Seems strong and durable

Cons: I can't really thing of any cons with this item, perhaps the striker could be better, but that is all.

Pros: Cheaper than some of the others
Works nicely once you know how to use it
Good build quality (it's only a ferrocerium rod...)

Cons: Cord isn't quite long enough unless you use the right angle on the scraper carefully...

Pros: This is really a strange item sold by DX.
But trust me it really works well !
How to use it :
First simple method --> put a piece of WC paper around the stick and strike the blade on the stick in a fast motion. Sparkles come and the paper burns. Even children success with this method. And they are HAPPY ssssoooooo Happy :-)
second method --> put a piece of coton in a plate and project sparkles on it. It burns immediately. But it is no so easy to have coton in the pocket (compared to WC paper LOL)

Cons: a bit tricky when using it for the fitrst time...

Other: Does exactly what it is supposed to bo
Buy it and try it : it is cheap after all !

Pros: + Produce quite a bit of sparks on a single stroke
+ The blade is tied with the thick string to the rod; so it is always ready to be used
+ It is small and easy to store

Cons: - Produce some fine residues after striking the rod but this doesn't really matters
- The cord is a bit short

Other: This is a must-have as a survival tool. Though I probably won't need it, I bought one just in case disasters going to come one day. Looking at the number of natural calamities around the world today, it is better to be prepared. Not to say that year 2012 is very close now.

Pros: Very simple, and small enough to fit on keys! Striker doubles as a blade in a pinch. Maybe even use it as a zipper pull?

Cons: Kind of cheap, but at that price, who cares? How can you not afford to buy it? It might save your life one day. I think I should have bought a bunch of these. One for keys, one for camping pack, one for tackle box, one for the car.

Other: If you don't buy one, at least buy two. I wish I had.

Pros: This is the LARGE firesteel probably as large as the light my fire swedish firesteel. I thought that at tis price, I would get the smaller firesteel.
It's huge! It's cheap! Buy 2 or 3 for this price can't be beat!

Cons: 1.It's big! Can't really carry it on your keychain or in your PSK!
2. scrape off the paint on the scraper to get a sharper edge so as to get more sparks.

Other: Buy it! You won't regret it!

Pros: - Big
- Inexpensive
- Great for people that want to go to survival and make a fire
- Easy to use onces you know how to use it
For this price you just have to but 1 or 2 or 3 :D

Cons: Because its pretty big its not verry handy to take it with you everywhere you go.
But when you now that your gonna go into the forrest you should have this product by your side.

Other: If you read this, trust me just buy 1

Pros: this is a good peice of kit. i have seen similar products at well over 15.00 +shipping online. the "flint" is long enough to provide a good spark and the plastic cap makes it easy to hold.
striker steel is adequate for the task and easy to use

Cons: i really found nothing about this to complain about. works well and as designed

Other: i will be ordering 3-4 more for my ourdoor gear.
