What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Good well built survival fire starter.
Good solid construction
Lightweight design
Easy to get a spark
Cons: Not really a con, but these starters take more effort than a gas lighter get a fire going.
I would recommend you practice using this to start a test fire at home before you take this out in the wilderness.
As above is easy to get a spark - but it naturally needs the right conditions to start a fire.
Other: Cheap enough and useful enough to be an essential survival kit or travel item
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: Well, it makes useful sparks to fire up dry fibers (like silk cocoons) for example and set the fire even when this magnesium stick gets wet. Make sure you keep your burning materials dry and ready to use.
Cons: Nothing that I'd notice now.
Other: Useful buy, would recommend to your camping bag...
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: The "wilderness wurvival fire sparkle and blade cutter tool" works good. The fire steel is made out of good material and works very good. I have to say, that the original "lite my fire" fire steels do work a little bit better, but not much. Maybe the sparks are burning a bit hotter. But this fire steel works also very good and it is noticeble cheaper.
Cons: The cutter is not perfect, because it is made out of a bit too soft metal. So the cutter will lose its sharpness and it will be difficult to get nice sparks. This is not a big problem, because you can use other sharp metal parts, like tha back spine of a knive, but it is a con. The cutter should be made out of harder and more durable steel.
Other: A working fire stell which is not that expensive. For the price it is a good buy.
