Pros: For about half the money you would pay for the Vivatar 285 HV you get a better quality flash with a built in optical slave. What could be better? I'm not 'strobist'. I will be using this as a hair or background light driven from by Alien Bee 800s.
Cons: I haven't found any issues. It works as described and seems well built.
Other: If you are a strobist or need an extra manual flash this one is build quite well and should do the trick.

Pros: It's a great speedlite/flash! Very trustable!
It isn't expensive at all and it fulfills its mission with honors! That means you can trust this item in any ocasion you are about to photograph. I've already used it in birthday celebrations and wedding parties, and it hasn't disappointed me so far.
The price is the best I've found in internet and local stores in my city.
Build quality is good too. No problems. Very trustable.
It's great for all photographers - professionals or amateurs as me.
Cons: No problems at all.
No drawbacks.
No disadvantages.
Other: I bought it and I'm very satisfied and happy with it!
I recommend it!
It's a pleasant product.

Pros: All Modes work fine.
S2 sync is most needed for me.
Very good indicators.
Good quality glossy back panel. I like it!
Good buttons.
Good distance as optic driven slave flash.
Cons: Battery compartment cover hinge seems to be not reliable. Have to be more accurate with it.
Settings (power level) at different modes set to default after power off.
Recharging circuit produce high frequency noise too often. I mean that brand flash (Nikon SB-600 for example) keep charge longer and when waiting (power on) charging can be heard 1 time per minute or more rarely.
This flash recharges about 1s every ~10s. A bit annoying.
After power off for a several hours, capacitor seems to become discharged. (Long charge after power on).
Brand SB-600 keeps charge for days. And even after days don't discharge completely.
Probably in YN-460 there is a resistor in parallel to capacitor that discharge it (for safety purposes) or maybe losses in flash circuit or capacitor have bad self-discharge params.
In S2 mode don't fire from some compact cameras, because some of this cameras have period between pre-flash and main-flash longer than expected.
It's not auto flash. So 4 stars for usefulness. (But you can't expect auto for this price)
You should know what power to set. For example it will be very hard to use it with film camera. My Nikon F80 work very well with SB-600 in auto mode. I don't know how to rely on YN-460 with film camera.
With DSLR no problem: you can see what you get.
Other: I ordered one on March, 16, when it was in stock.
Paid.
After several days status become packaging and in next days "stock shortage".
Wait for stock about one month.
Received in June.
Received two :) Thanks DX! Forgot long-long waiting after receiving this present and very happy.

Pros: As a beginner leisure photographer, I find it cheap, powerful, and easy to use. I like the the diffuser that is attached to it. Definitely doesn't feel cheap.
7 levels of flash intesity, usually the first or second is enough lighting for my uses.
Cons: No cons really. The pouch that comes with it I just threw away LOL. Im not familiar with manual flashes but I just play around with the strenght of the flash and my camera settings till I get the desired lighting.
Other: Affordable and works.

Pros: I use it as a strob, works great!
I've set it up with an Aluminum Tripod and umbrella that I got from DX as well.
Slave mode works with no issues and the pictures turned out great
insted of spending 300$+ for a set like this, I got everything worked out for less then 50$!!!
Cons: buttons feel a bit cheap, at first I thought it was broken, until I realized that you need to keep pressing the button for few sec to turn on... :P
Other: too bad that the one with the TTL came ot 2 weeks after I bought this one :)
but again - Das is fantastisch!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - it has a very fare range, the light is very bright if you turn it up to max. light
- it works as a slave flash which is useful for portraits and such things
- It comes with a nice bag and a stand which build quality is better than I'd thought!
- for the price it's fantastic!
-it seems very solid!
Cons: - the light is even on the slowest power level very bright which makes it hard to take pictures if the flash is positioned to close to the object and kind of difficult to use when you're taking pictures in a room where you can't go any further away. (I've putted some sheets over it which solved this problems a little)
- it's noisy, but you'll get used to it after a while!
- as a slave flash it didn't always work that it flashed, although it was close.
Other: It's nice if you kneed one, but If you're thinking in using the flash often then you'd better look for something a little more expensive (as well here on dealextreme available) which has a e-ttl, then you don't have to do all the settings by your own!
But after all for the price a very nice product!

Pros: Very very good build quality. Looks just like canon/nikon flashes. Solid feeling. Pretty cheep for what you get. Easy set up and pretty fast flash charging time. Works very good when set up as on a slave mode (got 2 mods for this S1 and S2) the optic in frot works good and for now i had no missfires using my canon 500D. Very good lightning options. You can choose the amount of light generated by the flash. Extremly powerfull flash for some one like me. I almost dont use the fullpower (only rare occasions)
Cons: I am not a pro photographer. If you enjoy taking family / group photos. Or just want to light up the area a bit (just dont forget to buy a flash diffuser or a softbox) this will fit your needs. The battery compartment a bit tricky and i have the feeling that ican broke it some day. But if you will be a bit gentle i guess you will have no problems at all.
Other: As i said again you will not regret it. I wantet to order 2 of them right away specially after reading very good reviews on the forums (money talks right? i dont compare it to OEM canon flashes with). Now i am ordering another one. If you need a set don hasitate go an buy couple of these

Pros: Best flash for this money on the internet. Came with manual in English that actually surprised me. Inside box flash is packed in velvet bag, that makes it feel quite expensive:) For this price level such an options than turning side ways and up/down are just perfect.
Cons: With my Pentax K100D Super works only with manual settings. So you have to adjust camera and flash manually for each shot. It might be different for another camera- I know only for mine. But as I bought it for taking photos for non moving objects inside, it is no problem fr me.
Other: Overall best flash for this money.
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: - Great Flash (if it Work!)
- Very Cheap
- Great Slave Flash
Cons: - No working after ~50 Flashes
- Very loud
Other: I bought this flash here about two months ago. After arriving in about two weeks in Berlin, I've tried it. I was confident right from the flash!
But after a little photo shoot with about 50 flashes he no longer works. It charges the capacitor and it will only light a few LEDs. Charging works fine, but he can no longer trigger from the camera and the pilot button.
The next purchase will definitely be a flash unit from Canon or Metz! Or I hope they can repair it with a warranty again. For I am sadly disappointed!
Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)
Pros: it is cheap
it is easy to use
it is easy to understand how it works
is has the most important funktions that a beginner like me needs
works with my old olympus OM-10 analog camera
Cons: could be better built, battery compartment is a bit hard to open.
Other: a good flash for the money spent so far, next one will be the 467 with ttl for nikon.
